Hi y’all! After a few months of researching how to lift a 2021 4 runner limited with XREAS and the largest tire I could for post lift, I finally got it all together! Not much out there for the 2021 limiteds and definitely some differences from 2019 and below. I ended up installing the Torq 3/1 spacers and got some 285 60 R20 BFG KO2’s. I did all the work myslef, hardest part was the front spacers due to the XREAS shocks. These shocks have a hydraulic hose connected so you can’t remove the shock tower to install the spacers on top which meant you have to do it all in the wheel well. Everything I read said you have to leave the bottom shock bolt connected, but for a 3” spacer, no way to fit it that way. I removed both and was just very careful. Back was a breeze and took 30 min. Tires do not rub at all, even backing up fast and steering wheel cranked. Thought I’d post this for any other 2021 + limited peeps out there :)

Also, the 3/1 spacer lift perfectly levels it! I measured before and after from both the ground to bottom fender lip as well as from the center hub to bottom fender lip and front and back measured identical except for the driver side being 1/8-1/4 different, probably due due to having a full tank of gas and tank being in the drivers side. Just a note on that :)

That is very nice to hear you were able to save the xreas with 3in lift.

(Please don't get this in a wrong way) Do you think 3in front (I assume its about 1.5in spacer front) and 1 in rear is little too high in front? Only reason I'm asking is my 4x4 shop told me to keep only 1inch difference like if 3in front give 2inch in the back. But according to the pic you posted it looks good to me.

When I first bought my Runner I installed a 2” lift in the front and 1 inch to the back, but it still looked raked (lower in the front versus the back). I measured and it was lower in the front by about 3/4 to an 1 inch. That’s why I decided to swap the front from the 2” spacer to the 3” spacer. It now measured literally exactly the same as the back. Perfectly level and looks way better.

Man this thing looks awesome! I have been looking for a setup like this on my 2021 and have come up short finding a solution that allowed me to keep X-REAS. Do you happen to know if spacer lifts can be done with a 2wd? I have not been lucky in finding an option for that, only 4wd. Id like to go with your first setup with the 2/1.

On my ORP, I measured the angle of the frame and doing the math, it's just a bit over 1" higher in the rear from front hub to rear hub. If I made the wheel opening heights even, the front would be higher on the frame even though at a glance the body would look level. I don't know it it's the same on a Limited though. In the photo above, looking at the bottom of the rocker, it looks like a bit off a negative rake.

    Nice looking car though! :)

Nice but also odd. I went with 3/2 and it is perfectly level (no rake) so not sure how 3/1 would also give you no rake.

    Looks badass with those tires

That is interesting, this is definitely a 3/1 lift from Torq Engineering. Maybe their specs are slightly off on the geometry. I recently took off the limited rocker skirts and replaced with the Trail rocker trim and caps. It’s the exact same mounting points and clips so it’s all OEM. Made it look like I got a another 3 inches of lift immediately. I also blacked out the front 2 trim pieces and rear bumper trim along with the racks and caps. Really happy wi to how it turned out.

That really is cool. I don’t think I have ever seen a lifted 4R with 20s in the wild. Props on getting dirty with it.

Thanks for posting this. I checked out the Torq Engineering site and my 2021 TRDPro is included. Looks like a much easier install than others on the market.

super easy install, the hardest part for me was just having to work inside the wheel because my limited has XREAS which won’t allow me to completely take out the shock & spring because it’s connects to the XREAS oil line. But won’t your Pro I don’t think you have that so you’ll be good. This was the first time I did my own lift in my garage and I was shocked how easy it was. Just follow the steps and make sure to Torq each bolt back to factory pounds and you’ll be set.

I don’t have wheel spacers. I ordered some 1” wheel spacers and put them on but didn’t like the look.

To anyone who has removed the minutes rocker panel skirts and replaced with the Trail/SR5 rocker trim, as you know the rear limited fender flares stick out an inch after this conversation and the the only way to fix it is to replace the limited fender flare with the SR5/Trail fender flare. Problem is those 2 flares only come in black plastic and not blizzard Pearl. I ordered 2 sets of the flares and had a paint shop paint them and just got them back. I ordered and had 2 painted because I wanted a back up if I screwed one up or broke a clip during install because I haven’t seen anyone do this step. Good news is replacing those fender flares is super each and literally only took 10 minutes for each side. Pop off the stick and clip in the new ones. I did break a couple of the clips but those were only $8 for the 5 clips needed. Having said this I have 2 brand new SR5/Trail flares and are painted blizzard Pearl. Asking $250 for the set. If interested DM me.

    Nice truck

Do you know if you can lift a limited and get rid of the the XREAS all together without engine codes and lights going off?

You can remove the XREAS all together, anything over 3” you will have to. My buddy is the head line mechanic at Toyota in Pebble Beach and he said there isn’t a single electrical cord connect to the XREAS system. Not even for low oil in the XREAS hydrology system. With that said, you can remove and there would be no error codes or dash lights effected.

fact there’s no electrical is an even better system so it’s fully hydraulic. Take it when turning the turn side compresses while the outside side is pressurized mitigating body roll.
Badass system Knowing that I’ll keep the system

painted trail flares make a big difference in looking factory. I still want to change the rockers on my limited but I’m thinking of getting the trail ones color matched. Have a mixed of both that way.

Getting the fender trims painted to match was a process. I have a blizzard Pearl which is hard to match. 2 paint shops said they could match and the trims pieces came out a shade whiter than my car. I finally found a company called touch up direct that has a 100% color match guarantee, so I placed an order and then took the paint to the paint shop for them to use. It’s literally a 100% match.
