    Hey all,

Long time member of the TW forums, and a newbie here...So I currently have a 14 Tacoma Baja access cab 6sp man and a TRD supercharger... I have a deal currently on a 17 Taco TRD PRO Cement and it is currently still in transit from TX. Est arrival 10/1 or before. I have thought about getting a 4RPRO for a while, but mainly to replace my wife's Pilot. I would use it for pulling a boat, as well as pulling my dirt bikes. I was searching for a white PRO 3 hrs away, but just found out now it has been sold.... It looks like the 16's are pretty much spoken for, so any idea when the 17's will hit the dealers? I know about all the raves about the 4R's quality, and that is one of my reservations about getting the Taco PRO..Still some issues from the new Gen 3's at this point. Howling difs, auto tranny shifting issues(mainly fixed by TSB).

    Welcome to the site

I have no idea on the 17's but I would imagine nearly any time, call your local dealer and see. If it is like the ones around here 4runners are sometimes hard to find in the package you want, seemed like most were already spoken for before they hit the lot. Well all except the limiteds, they seemed to get a lot of those. Good luck in your search

Thanks....Anyone know approx how many Pro's they make a yr? 2500? I know at least for this year the 17 Taco Pro's there will be 2500 made...33% for each color(Cement, Bacr Red, Super white) and amazingly on 125 manuals.... I am guessing it's not very many obviously.

I recently switched from a '11 Tacoma to my 4Runner. Don't regret it for a second. I think I read some where they are making 3200 4Runner Pro's per year. I used Cars.com to find mine. The '16's are pretty much all gone or have huge markup.

Yep...I emailed a dealer up in MI right before I typed my original post, and before I finished I got a response back saying it had been sold....actually a few days ago, but the deal wasn't finalized since they are out of state buyers. I told him to give me a call if they back out...long shot, but you never know...The rest of the 16's are 4-5 hrs away, so not really in the position to deal with a trade-in without firm numbers for my truck, as well as the 4R....I guess the 17's should be arriving soon, so looks like I have no choice but to wait, or just go with a Taco PRO instead...1st world problems...;)

    Welcome.

Have you considered the Trail Edition w/ KDSS? Then spend the savings on a really nice suspension kit :)

Welcome! Nice Tacoma, I saw it on TW in the for sale section actually and if I were to be looking for a clean 2nd gen yours would be a top contender. Manual trans and SC
The 4runners are nice for sure, I do feel they have a bit better fit/finish and refinement over the Tacomas and since the 5th gen's have been out 7+ years they dont really have the issues like the new Tacoma have been plagued with. If you wait on a 17 PRO you'll have the same color choices as the Tacoma- Cement, Barcelona, and Super White again.

I have.. a while back when I was pushing for my wife to get a 4R..:) At this point there seems to be a little more inventory with the Trail Ed then the Pro of course. I am set on a white, so been doing a little searching.....

Thanks...The fit and finish is one of the reasons why I am gravitating toward the 4R. My 14 Taco is solid. No rattles, etc. I must say I really miss the days of all the Toyotas being built in Japan.. The keys for me at this point are the ability to pull our 19ft Yam jet boat(both will do that no problem) Hauling my dirt bikes(usually just one@ at time) easier with the Taco, but nothing a trailer can't fix with the 4R. I don't really have the room to keep a trailer at my house, so borrowing one when needed from one of my friends wouldn't really be a big problem. My wife is due for a new vehicle, and she really want's a Lexus RX smaller suv, so having two suv's might be a waste. Having a truck around is always handy....Decisions decisions...

Since you like the Trail...if you can't get a price closer to invoice, consider waiting for the 2017 T4R OffRoad.

I think only badging changed, from TE to OR. I haven't read about any suspension changes yet.

OP might have read about KDSS which he thought is a new feature

I know I will never be offroading extreme enough to need KDSS, but I sure do wish I waited for a truck with that option...I did get a great deal on my base TE, and I still have my locker, crawl and multi-terrain cool-aid which hopefully will get a lot of use playing in snow and drivng on frozen lakes.

Well I decided on the Pro Taco..Picked it up last Friday. It's so much more refined from last gen. Only have 250 miles on it, but loving it. The cement is amazing in person! Pics do not do it justice. Thanks guys for all the info with regards to the 4R....

That cement color is so cool! I hope the DC fits your needs better.

Are you keeping your old truck?
