I posted some pictures at full lock when trailing in Moab, an other member asked me the same thing. I'll take and post some new pictures tomorrow. I'm sure 2.5" with a good alignment will be fine. I'm almost 3" and fine. You can see at the picture above that these are OEM UCA's. As a matter of fact, I don't understand it neither.

Well, I don't know about that. I think all 285's are in the same ballpark. Actually, it looks like the KO 2's are a bit bigger.
    Bfg KO 2 285/70/17 - 32.80 - Nitto Ridge Grappler 285/70/17 - 32.76 - General Grabber ATX 285/70/17 - 32.71

You should be able to get somewhere around 3.5 or 3.6 degrees of caster with a 1.5" lift up front.

That's what my shop was able to get with a 1.6" lift. Camber and toe are perfect.

    quite a few
true, the 285's (in C load) are average sized (E load is 32.7 which is the smallest 285 I could find). still many larger though. mostly seems like the MT's, which are what I was recently looking at purchasing. the yokahama G003 I just bought are 32.9, toyo mt 33, trail grappler 33.15.

anyways, I was just being argumentative. there are many small things that effect whether you will rub or not, and its pretty much impossible to know if you will or not with 285's until you try it. the good thing is, its a pretty easy fix if you do.

It's nice for you that you had no issues. I hope I'll be the same in 2 weeks when my lift is installed!

P.S. sorry to hijack the thread, OP.

I'm not the only one here on this Forum, many others that have installed 285's without BMC, mud flap removal Etc., have been successful with a good alignment.
Good luck with the lift & tires, post some pictures.

Read through all of the posts - a couple of times:) Thanks, to each of you.

Having recently added TOYO 285's(32.76") I'm getting a slight drivers side mudflap rub in reverse, and am torn between having the alignment checked and or adding new UCA's.

Seems to me if the stock UCA's adjustability is near or at its limits to prevent the rub, would it not be better in the long run to change out the UCA's and be done with it? (just me, thinking out loud again;))

You could always try messaging the mudflap with a heat gun first.

I've been known to message a mudflap or two.

    That sounds dirty.

Good advice - message done, but still rubs a bit.

Shortly after said message, I happened across a post by @Thatbassguy where his minor rub almost tore his mudflap off, in off roading conditions. I don't recall if he was running 285's or 295's when it happened? but a lesson shared can be a lesson learned, ya know. ;)
