We're not going to be selling the VFTuner software/hardware packages ourselves.

Customers who do not have a licensed VFTuner Pro user local to them to flash their truck on their behalf will need to purchase and install the VFTuner software for themselves and then purchase and install our tune.

Customers who purchase our 4runner tune will receive 4 tunes: "Weekend Warrior" and "Active Duty", with both regular and premium fuel versions. This will allow you The opportunity to swap between tunes as desired, whether it be for octane considerations and/or discovering which tune's throttle feel and performance you prefer. The cost is $100USD.

I recommend confirming with us that we have support for your vehicle prior to purchasing, as not every model year/transmission combination has support in VFTuner at this time.

The link for the software is here:
    https://vftuner.com/collections/vf/products/vforest-tuner-software-flash-cable

I also recommend installing Toyota Techstream. Steps for doing so can be found at the link provided below. Most of our tunes are for ECU versions obtained by applying ECU update via TSB, if applicable. Applicable TSB ECU update file can be provided as needed.

No. We haven't discussed offering the tune through any Colorado tuners yet, nor have any reached out and asked about it. So for the time being the options are to either get a copy of VFTuner software and flash your own vehicle, or to get a group buy going and then either myself or Christian would head up there.

Unfortunately not, because the tables that OV/VF mentioned have not yet been made available.

Recently another VF Pro tuner asked if they'd be coming with the next software update and got told no, so that's about all we've seen regarding updated info on availability for those tables.

The tune already influences shift points, but indirectly via a torque table.

So far, the only ECU that has been noted to have those direct shift point tables like what we see with the Tacoma is the 2015 Limited trim ECU.

Maybe that's good news for the others, who knows

VFTuner 1.6.1 stock file directory includes an empty folder labeled "4Runner 2020+", so it looks like [hopefully] in the near future we'll be able to expand our support to 2020-22 4Runners!

This is excellent and exciting news, as we know that many of you want tuning for your newer 4Runners. We receive daily inquiries about it.

In addition, we've been working on tuning for the v8 4th gen 4runner! We have our personal 2008 v8 4R tuned and testing, as well as a few testers with 2006MY.

We *should* have some 2003-2005 support but our ECU ID chart is incomplete for the 4th gen 4runners, so we'd need to get confirmation of ECU versions in order to confirm support. Most OBD code readers can identify ECU ID info.

Release should be coming soon though! ;)

Will the 2020+ tune be sufficient for the Magnuson supercharger kit?

No, our 4Runner tune is for NA.

We would need to R&D a supercharger tune, just like we did for the Magnuson supercharger tune that we're about to release for the 3GTacoma.

As a sort of celebration of our launching the YW SC tune for the 3GTacoma this Saturday, we're holding a sale across the network this weekend for NA tune packs and flash services. This will be available Friday through Sunday, May 20-22.

Tune flash services for supported NA vehicles will be $50 off.

Tune packs for remote purchase will be $20 off.

How much interest or demand would there be for YotaWerx Tuning to make an aftermarket tune for Magnuson supercharger owners, like we did for the 3GTacoma?

Are people generally happy with the 4R supercharger performance, or does it leave something/a lot to be desired?

I am returning from deployment this week and will be living in El Paso for the next few years. I hope we can link up and discuss future tuning options. It will be great to have a local tuner!!

I've been on the Weekend Warrior - 87 octane tune for about a month/2300 miles. The better shifting and the few extra HP definitely makes up for the larger and heavier tires. (I'm on 295s). The 4Runner no longer feels sluggish when climbing a hill while the AC is running either.

The pedal feels much more linear than stock. I don't need to bury my foot into it just to get the drivetrain to react. Shifting is smoother too. The stock firmware felt like it was very hesitant to shift gears, and would unnecessarily skip gears.

Example: When I go to pass someone on the highway, I only have to give it a little more gas and the transmission smoothly downshifts to the next gear with a small bump in RPMs. Before, I had to slowly keep giving it more gas until the transmission abruptly downshifted a couple gears with a big RPM spike. Sometimes after accelerating while merging onto the highway, the transmission wouldn't upshift to a higher gear until I let off the gas, a lot. This no longer happens.

City driving is overall smoother as well. The 4Runner feels faster off the line in stop and go traffic.

Gas mileage also is better. Before the tune with the larger tires, the computer was reporting 16.1mpgs with a 330 mile range on a full tank. As of this post, I'm averaging 16.7/356 on a full tank. On the stock tires before the tune, I was getting an average of 385 mile range per tank.

** I haven't done any manual calculations to test the accuracy of what the vehicle reports for MPGs or Range. I didn't test the speedometer for accuracy before the larger tires. After the larger tires, GPS reports 71.5mph when the speedometer says 70 mph

We hope to have 2020+ 4Runner NA support very soon (possibly this weekend or next week) . We will announce both when we have access to those ECUs, and when the tune is made (should take less than a day following access assuming nothing comes up to stop me from working on them).

The plan is to apply our current tune for the 2010-19 4Runner to the 2020+ models. However, 2020+ has full transmission controls as well, so we'll likely start with some basic shift point edits that we've done some testing on (with positive results) to send the tunes out with, and then work on dedicated transmission control to be provided as an update. This is because very few 2010-19 ECU versions have transmission controls of their own, and so our work there has been dependent on a limited number of testers and time available with them.

As with all of our tunes across multiple vehicles, updates that we make to our tunes are always provided to existing customers for free, so no one ever needs to worry about paying twice for their tune.
