The JBL tweeter has rattling sound and it needs to be replaced, should I replace it with OEM tweeters or should be looking into something else?

Is there anything out there that is Plug and Play?

    Crutchfield suggested this https://www.crutchfield.com/p_13699048/JL-Audio-C1-075ct.html,

Are these plug and play or do I need to do some modification of my own?

    Nice!! thanks for that link.
What tweeters would you suggest I should buy that would match or even better than my OEM JBL tweeter?
It should be one that would match the OEM brackets.

A number of people have went with a 3.5" speaker vs a tweeter (see thread). I found the 3.5 to be nice but overbearing unless I moved the fade/sound to the center of the rear set. Once I put in my new 6x9s found that was all I wanted/needed and removed the 3.5". Currently considering a tweeter but well see. My system is not JBL so not sure that makes a difference.

The nice thing about the Wolf harness is you can plug in different speakers or go without and the 6x9s still play.

I thought about the 3.5 myself but my wife would not agree to that, is her car after all, so, I just need a pair of tweeters that are of the same quality or better that will fit without any mod.

Actually I am considering the JL Audio tweeter Crutchfield recommended to you. I just installed an amp and this tweeter might fit right in, plus always been a JL Audio fan after owning some of their stuff in the past.

Too many mods and too much money
This speaker was a direct bolt in on my 12' LE and sounds decent enough, but my connector in my dash did not fit and the pins weren't right. So I got the razor knife out, modified the connector in the dash and repinned the wires.
Apparently the connector fits later models as is shown in this YT vid. My 12' LE has the JBL system and maybe the one in the video is a different system.
I definitely needed it for music as well as hands free phone ops, because everyone sounded like crap and unreadable.

If you only install a tweeter you are going to change the spectrum balance on that channel or create a hole because the OEM speaker handles midrange. If you replace the dash speaker and not the 6x9 in the door with the complimentary woofer, you could have the same thing, balance between high and low is off due to differences in sensitivity.

So unless you are going to replace both and do it right with door treatment and with correct quality mounting brackets, I recommend you get an OEM replacement. There are probably plenty of people around that have some laying around after upgrading.

Thanks for your advice , after trying different things and lot of research I decided to get the OEM . The JBL system on this late 4runners models is tricky...Thanks again .

Where did you order from and how did it go? I need the same part and I’m having trouble locating it.

Do you know what the factory impedance rating is on the JBL dash speakers? It's been a while, but back in the day most of the factory amplified systems used funky impedance speakers (2 ohm, .5 ohm, etc. )

My 4R wasn't amplified (plus I rewired the whole thing anyway when I upgraded my system) so I'm not sure.
