Thanks! Yup. 265s K02s with Dobinsons IMS suspension. I aimed for a 2in/1.5 in lift, but ended up closer to a 3in/2.5in lift. Kinda thinking of 285s or 275s but on the fence. Your comment makes me feel better about using up these tires before making the change lol.

So many good looking 4runners on here, and I feel a need to make mine as Instagramy as possible. I need to remind myself to slow down and focus on form follows function first. The suspension and tires already do what I wanted out my ride. It feels really dialed in right now, on and off-road.

Great stuff. I’m old enough to not give a rip about Instagram. Amen to form following function. I’m (sort of) new to off-roading and looking forward to delivery of my 4R. Did your lift alone result in added clearance or does that come from the tires, or both?

 

Yeah, Im an old guy too. 4runner is my responsible utilitarian midlife crisis vehicle. Totally new to off-roading too, but was lucky enough to meet some cool local guys on here to introduce me to places like the national forest trails.

The lift doesnt really increase total clearance by itself. Because the tires are still the stock size, the rear diff sits at the same stock height. However, I have extra clearance everywhere else, and get better approach, departure and breakover angles.

 

My 4Runner was not in a scenic location, but was at Firestone getting its tire rotation and lifetime alignment adjustment today.

No, that’s the view from the end of the trail to the Strike Valley overlook in the Waterpocket Fold, overlooking Strike Valley, the Swap Mesa, and the Henry Mtns in the background.

To get there it’s a long paved and rugged dirt drive on the Burr Trail Rd, a short but sandy and rocky 4WD road to the trailhead, then a short hike to the overlook, with incredible views.
