Anybody else have any experience with these? These may have been the loudest tires I have ever experience. I dont know if I should be worried, maybe there is something else wrong or this is just the case with these tires. I have to blast my music just to hear it, set around 40.

I don't have much experience with various types of tires. Is this just the case with M/T's, would switching to some A/T's have a better experience or is this just the life of a 4runner.

I have the General Grabber X3 M/Ts. Quietest M/T on the market I'd wager

They look pretty decent but besides that, not a big fan of these tires. I do not recommend these to anybody.

I had STT MAXX's on my FJ and loved them. No experience with the Pros. Pros look a little more aggressive than I need. Could you exchange them?

MT's are definitely going to have some road noise. Even ATs will have a bit. I went from Nitto TGs to KO2s to now Yokohama Geolander MTs, and things got progressively louder, respectively. I will say, however, the Geolander's aren't THAT much louder than K02s, especially at highway speeds. Cruising on the side roads is another story

Sadly I have had them longer than that. So riding these out until its time for a new pair or if I find someone who'd like to swap or a good deal on tires then i'll swap.

Question about M/T's. When you are going, lets say below 5 mph, do you feel mini bumps? like you could feel each piece of tread?

Yes, funny you mention that. I was just thinking that driving this morning. It felt like I was running over a bunch of legos my son left out haha.

AT 30k miles, I would say these could be the loudest M/T on the market, save for some real mud tires like Pit Bull or TSLs.

The first few thousand miles weren't terrible but after that it was an ear ringing hwy experience.
But, I absolutely love these things. I have beat the crap outta them aired down, pumped them back up and driven hundreds of miles afterwards, with no errant vibrations, even at 90+ mph.

They handle the hwy really well, grip on corners really well, and will plow through standing water on the hwy like it's nothing.

Cooper makes a great tire that are meant to be beat up, but these M/Ts are very loud. No getting around it.

Pic is from the Tail of the Dragon in NC after being aired down all weekend at the Appalachian Toyota Roundup at Wind Rock Park.

Like others have said, MT's are going to be loud. Some are better than others, though.

How many miles do you have on them? Have you rotated them?

I would put my Yokohamas against them. :D

I have heard that the Generals are quiet. The Yokos are definitely audible, but pretty easy to ignore.

Yup. It's due to the larger blocks and tread void. It's just part of having a proper MT. They're awesome in mud, rocks, off-road, etc. But, they trade off some on-road performance and comfort.

My Yokohamas are totally awesome off-road, and decent on-road. But, they're going in the garage as soon as snow starts flying.

If you can get a set of replacements while there's still plenty of tread, you could probably sell them and recoup some of your money.

Agreed, these yoko's are pretty quiet for a MT. How many miles have you had them for now? Just wondering when the hums start to really sing.

Getting close to 20K with no real increase in noise. Just keep rotating them. I'm hoping they keep quiet for another summer or 2.

Got about 25k miles I believe. Rotate my tires every oil change, so 5k mile rotation.
Yeah i was looking at selling my rims and tires for a different change.

Most MT's seem to last around 40K at best. They might be getting close to their life expectancy. How much tread is left?

I'm 90% sure I'll buy them again. That said, I've heard good things about the Generals as well.

It would be nice if someone could test every different MT for noise. Same vehicle, same road, and use a DB meter in the vehicle to see how loud each one is at a few different speeds. Of course, a magazine couldn't do it in case it would make an advertiser's product look bad.

I could tell you right now, the stt pro's are sitting at 72db. But that is using an apple watch, so can't guarantee the precision on it.
I got a tread gauge coming, so i could tell you once it arrives.

Well I might be getting some stt pros in 35s today… maybe I should reconsider waiting for the Yokohamas

My father in law had stt pros on his ram in a 37” and the noise didn’t bother me. He had roughly 30k on them.
