    Ummm...

I'm not sure what your point is here.

Your experience doesn't change what the manual recommends:

Also, it's great that slow speed worked for you in that particular mud pit. As I said, slow is fine if you can cut through to solid ground underneath.

But, a lot of times you'll wind up sitting on the frame before you find traction. That's when you need to spin the tires to clear the mud (although, of you wait until you're sitting on the frame already, you're probably not getting out). I would recommend 4hi for those situations.

Aside from all of that, my point was that the locker is not just there for mudding. In my experience, it's been more useful in rocks.

Pinstripes, lots of em. Plus a couple dents.
Your mileage may vary - if there is mud, I turn on my locker & give it the beans / send it.
I don't sit there and watch my speedometer to see if I'm going over 5mph. It's a non-issue.

I'm sure it's probably fine in situations where you have little traction. I was just pointing out that the locker was more useful in other situations. And, some people might not be comfortable exceeding the manual's recommendations.

If it's a long patch of soft mud, I usually just kill traction control, put it in S2 or S3 and gun it. But, I take my time through the holes I know if there are rocks in them. It only works because I'm able to reach the hard bottom.

Every situation is different. Some of the holes up here are soupy mud with hard bottoms. Others are seemingly bottomless and thicker. The second type is where the locker is basically useless.
