Took my sliders off the other day and found dirt trapped underneath which means moisture can get in and form rust eventually, should I just keep them off? I know I can fluid film but honestly I would not want to take it on and off yearly it's such a pain and I don't do any serious off roading just remote camping

Wash it off, reinstall and put silicone around it if you're worried about it.

Be careful how you apply the silicone. You don't want to trap moisture between the frame and slider mount. I'd leave the bottom contact area open for drainage.

That's one of several reasons I chose to not install sliders.

I see that you haven't removed the plastic tabs.

    1. Remove plastic tabs behind the sliders. (Keep the ones that are not covering)
    2. Apply rust prevention paint
    3. Bolt the sliders.

    Update-
Here's a pic how I prep before installing. Plastic tabs removed, apply rust proof paint.

Another coat of paint to prep the surface wont hurt, but theoretically could still get ground off if there is friction (which probably would happen admittedly)

if you are worried about rust, just lather on a bunch of wool wax on the mating surfaces. Make it thick and gloppy.

Wool wax is thicker than fluid film, but otherwise the same thing
