I drive with my back window down as much as I possibly can, weather permitting.
This has caused a super issue with my headliner in the back getting filthy and looking pretty freakin gross.
Anyone have experience cleaning the headliners in the Runner? Is there anything special I need to do or is a damp cloth just the best option?

I have this issue as well. Currently I used Chemical Guys no nonsense spray with a microfiber towel to wipe it but I'm sure there is a better way.

My back window is pretty much cracked all summer and my rear headliner looks like a home air filter that hasn't been changed in a year haha

I imagine a steam clean would do wonders

Good question! I slept in mine recently, and while I was laying there staring at the ceiling I realized my headliner was absolutely filthy as well.

Somebody once told me that Tuff Stuff cleaner along with a bristle brush will do the trick, though I haven't gotten around to trying it yet. First I need to take a lint brush to mine, because it's covered in dog fur LOL.

Thanks everyone, glad to know I’m not alone. I’m trading it in soon for an upgrade so perhaps I’ll just let the dealership worry about it hahahah. You would think they would offer a vinyl headliner or some other option that won’t get so gross!

    So you're getting a newer 4Runner then?

Yes! I have a deposit on a ‘21 Lunar Rock Pro that’s been sitting at the LA port for a while now… no eta on when it will get out of that mess. May end up with a ‘22 lime rush Pro if that comes easier.

Hell yeah, with the new one you'll have to spray some scotchgard or something and let us know if it helps with the headliner haha

Velcro Patches FTW ..... actually this doesnt work very well. I had to move all of mine to the front area. Anytime I got on the freeway and hit 70mph+ the wind would rip one or two off, luckily I never lost one out the window, as they end up sticking to something else first.
