Damn.......that's nuts. How did you know it was a brown recluse? Did you smash the thing and find it or was it identified by the bite?

    Good question.

I wonder if the tech intended to change the filter but just forgot?

Someone walked over to him and started yapping after the skid plate was dropped. When they were done talking, it didn't register that he didn't complete the job. :notsure:

My wife does this to me in the middle of projects all the time :lalala:

Best I know, from the information provided to poison control based on the spread of the infection and my bodies white blood cell response. The infection didn't stay local to the bite sight. A thumb sized swelling area extended from my back side, in a horizontal fashion towards the family jewels, which is what caused me to seek medical attention:rofl:

    Work in progress.
Good outcome Moon Landing and good to hear the dealership did the right thing. Rickystl- thanks for the dealer link. I did not know about it. I am dealing with a Mitsubishi dealership in CO for bad service as well. But thanks to that big mistake a just bought a new 4Runner 2021 which I am so happy.

You should look into what HOA you are part of, some of them are managed by a company (a management company - they do this for living and manage a lot of HOAs) which has nothing to do with the home owners and are just enforcing the restrictive covenants like robots. If you can mobilize a majority (usually the majority is defined in the paperwork that made the HOA - can be 51% or 3/4 or a different number - you must have access to the restrictive covenants and bylaws by law) you can remove the administration company by vote of the people and have the HOA board made by actual residents that are usually more understanding. You could go as far as dismantle the HOA if the people vote for it, or just change the restrictive covenants to fit the majority. I live in an HOA but we are not managed by a 3rd party company, which made our lives much easier.

On a different note, if you have dirt on the side of your house and the lot with dirt does not belong to you, complain to the HOA and say it is visually unappealing - this may also be in the restrictive covenants that you can get from the HOA - it is usually under architectural review.

This sucks. I just took mine into the dealer for the 10K today. Guess I had better take a look at the filter...

Hope you're not built as far away from the sidewalk as I am.........the ups and downs aren't as easy as they once were.:)

More to the point, if you saw the skid plate had been off, why'd you take it off and investigate further? And if you could take the plate off without HOA repercussions, why can't you change your oil?

Look at the pictures silly! I didn't take it off. I shot those through the holes in the plate. I'll leave it there.

EDIT: Just to make myself PERFECTLY CLEAR your accusatory post is pure BS, and uncalled for, but that seems to be a pattern with you.

If you feel like I'm impugning your integrity by asking a reasonable question, that seems like a 'you' issue. I meant nothing of the sort. I actually hadn't seen the pics; I must have skipped over a few posts since I generally skim stuff that doesn't directly interest me.

I'd be interested in this "pattern" of accusatory posts you speak of. Sarcastic, yes. Crass, yes. Vulgar, sometimes. But I generally don't care enough about other posts to delve into full on accusations or investigatory mode.

My dealer service experience has been at the other end of the spectrum.

I had the fuel pump recall done on my Tacoma last year. Shortly after I got home, I had a message that the tech had neglected to install one clip. He noticed it in the shop after I left. I would have never known the difference. He drove 150 miles round trip to my house to spend 30 seconds installing a clip. There are 3 dealers that are a similar distance from me. I always use them now.
