    Hi

Anyone has these factory style replica trd pro wheels 17x8.5 0 offset? If so you have any pics and how do you like them. I’m debating on going with the oem 21 trd pro wheels or these factory style reps since they are wider. Probably going to stick to 265 or 275 tires

    thanks

If you're sticking with stock size tires than why not go with OEM TRD Pro rims?

The oem is 17x7 vs 17x8.5

Yea but what's the point of having a 17 x 8.5 if you are not going bigger than 275?

Was it FN wheels or something that accepted Toyota center cap? I think whatever it was now discontinued. I think that one was a wider wheel which is recommended for bigger wheels. If I buy aftermarket wheel I would definitely go with known brand. Need some guarantee that it will not crack on trail runs.

I think wider wheels will help against loosing bead? Because wheel is all most parallel to the width of the tire. Atleast what I was told in the past.

I seen some tire/rim fitment chart posts here but don't remember the threads otherwise I'd attach to your thread.

There has been discussions that 285 tires should be on a minimum of a 7.5" rim. Although many of us are running 285's on Pro 7" rims.

I would say that if the tires you decide on 265/275, can be safely mounted on a 8.5" rim, then you should be good to go.

Is it possible that by widening the tire bead width to a greater degree that you lose some of the benefits of contacting the tire sidewall rather than the rim when driving through tight trails?

    I’m thinking a 8.5 vs 7 would have a different look on a 265/275

    Question,

Is popping a bead really a thing with modern tires?

I've been reading 4Runner forums for several years now and not seen one post about popping a bead.

I suppose if someone was running crazy low tire pressures then it would be a possibility, but if they are doing that, then maybe it's time to go with true beadlock rims.

when it comes to rim width to wheel width. Tiresize.com is very helpful. You will see a given rim width to tire width fitment range. I like to be on the narrower side of the rim width. It creates a little buffer from curb rash on the wheels and when airing down less likely to break the bead.

Yep, have them. 0 offset, 265 KO2s and Eibach pro lift. They look great, ride great and are light. IMG_7342 2.jpg IMG_7343 2.jpg IMG_7344 2.jpg

Love the look. Just got a TRD OR 3 weeks ago. Yours stance is exactly what I'm looking for.
