Lifting the mrs new 2003

Hello,

I'm trying to gather all the parts that I need for a 3/2" lift on a 2003 sr5. No reas or air shocks. The kits that I see our advertising fairly long lead times. And I'm hoping to start this project next week.

Quick n dirty response here…

If you aren’t putting any extra permanent weight in, all of that will work. Tho be aware you’re putting together your front coilevers, we don’t have separate springs/shocks up front. Whether you need aftermarket UCAs is kind of hit or miss, you might be able to get away with it. But if you want to play it safe SPC or JBA UCAs are very well liked and not expensive by a long shot.

 

Gotcha. I think/hope I can handle the coil over assembly. Assuming I'll need to rent a spring compressor .Thank you for the reply and UCA recommendations!

 

If you do happen to not need an immediate supply of parts, and/or you may end up with more permanent weight, stepping up to the likes on Ironman4x4, Dobinsons, or Old Man Emu is not a bit step. And all of them are very good about outlining entire setups for front and rear springs and shocks so you dont just have to piece meal it yourself.

 

OME coils and bilsteins are pretty standard for an easy reliable lift across 4Runners and tacomas. I'd reccomend buying new tophats and hardware, just so you don't have to mess with dissassembling your old ones to reuse.

3" lifts, like incrediboy said, are where it starts to get hit or miss if you need UCA's or not. You might get lucky and be able to get it aligned with no issues, or you might not.

 

I'm starting to second guess myself.
My plan is/was to install 5100 in front at the 2.5 setting. And reuse the stock coils. They only have 40k on them.
I will also install 5100 on the rear and add the 895e OME coils that say will add 1"
I have TRD pro wheels on the way. 17x7 with +4 and plan to mount 255/75 duratracs on them.
Does all this sound ok?
Main questions before I start the work are...
Is it ok to reuse the stock springs up front?
Is the 2.5 setting going to be ok with adding the one inch spring in the rear
Id just like some reassurance before I start

Long as youre onboard with reusing old front coils while the rest of the suspension is new, all sounds good. Lots of people, myself included, tend towards replacing everything at once, if you can afford it (or desire to). Akin to a suspension-only factory reset if you will...

That said, yes your plan plus what Spencermark said about new tophat hardware should work. 2.5+ front and 1+ rear will roughly level you out instead of the factory forward rake.

 

You can get a whole lift kit through yota mafia or something similar. 5100 are a good kit but Dobinsons are also 10% off right now on their website. Eibach is another good entry one but I think they're getting restocked beginning of December.
