I aligned mine using a laser. The side adjustment was off very little, about spot on. That said the lighting still sucks. More and more owners are switching back to hid or stock

Is that how much they go for??? Wow, I can't justify paying that much for aftermarket headlights.

Tint, HID lows and LED fogs...so far
I love my HID's. I did have to aim them down as the cut off was much higher than the halogens. I got flashed a few times until I got them adjusted down. Now I never get flashed and I still have 10x the light down the road than I did with stock. The biggest benefit was the added light to the sides without ditch lights.. I've looked into the Morimoto's but can't justify the cost when I did my lows and fogs for $200. I'm ordering my DRL/highs now but still complete for far less. I like the sequential turn signal, but I think I'll just go with switchbacks for something different.

Not sure what they cost these days, never bothered to look. I want to say the $1200 was the "introduction to the market price" and they may have gone up from there. They look awesome, I love them, I would never waste that kind of $ on them though. $500 and I'd consider it.

They look cool tho but I will just keep my OEM headlights, I installed protective film over my OEM headlights so I dont any rock pits/chips or plastic fading. That little mod only cost me $50 lol

I have a friend with a spare set of OEM lights that are cracked from a small accident. I will be using those as test pieces. I plan to bale them in the oven, pull them apart, and back out ALL the chrome inside. I will also tint the amber light reflector so that blends in. I want to try a couple test pieces before I do it on my lights lol. I have the same plan for the tail lights however those have to be cut open. Every bit of chrome will be deleted when I'm finished.

A lot of life stuff going on right now. I literally have zero time for much of anything. Hopefully in 2-3 months I will get to this project. I will definitely take pictures of the process start to finish.

There is a new version out but one guy on the other forum bought them. The picture he posted looked as bad as the 1st gen and he never came back to talk about them

Thank ForRun!! Yeah I’m leaning towards leaving my stock headlights in. Just switch out my running light and turn signal with the switch back. Headlightrevolution has them and you don’t need a resistor.

May be interested in the switchbacks. Do you have any info or a link? I've got some retrofit headlights I ordered 7 weeks ago and think they keep the stock bulbs except and just put in a different projector

Hey ForRun , I don’t have the link just google headlightRevolution and put in your year for 4runner. There $69.00 i think. Since the 2020 Pro has Led fog lights I’m not touching them. Just might switch out these bulbs and I probably getting the diode Dynamics rear taillight set up for being much brighter. Really bright. Watched there video. I don’t like how dark it is on the 4runner backing https://headlightrevolution.com/2014-2019-toyota-4runner-carbide-led-2-0-front-turn-signal/

I was hoping to improve the lighting on my 2020 TRD Off Road 4Runner with these. This was a disappointing thread to find after I ordered a set. Now I've seen other threads talking about dead batteries and other troubles. I guess I'll have to chalk this up as the second major mistake I've made with this vehicle.

I dunno, I just love mine. I got the fogs free with a promotion, and they’re also impressive. Thinking of getting the tails too.

Jut cross your fingers and hope your luck is much better than mine. I bought the first gen version of these and a year later the lights in the LED ring on both sides are flickering and going out at times. To start having these issues before even owning these a year is no bueno. I don't even want to mess with taking them out because I simply don't have time. These lights aesthetically improve the look of the vehicle. Quality wise they are not great.

I went ahead with the install and they seem like an improvement so far. I found a dark street to take some comparison pictures. These are with the same camera (APS-C sensor), same focal length, ISO, aperture, shutter speed and as close as I could get to the same location and framing. I tried to adjust the camera to look as close as possible to reality with the original headlight illumination. The camera sensor has a lower dynamic range than our eyes, so the areas beyond the cutoff in the Morimoto picture look black, but in reality I can still see out there okay. These were also taken after adjusting the Morimoto lights up quite a bit. They could be higher based on the cutoff comparison in the pictures, but I have already been flashed and I can see pretty well so I'm not sure if I will make further adjustments.

Hi, I just got back from the local Toyota dealer.
Two times in the last 6 months, I'll be driving fine all day, stop home and go out again and the truck will crank, but not start.
Toyota says these lights are pulling too much amperage and killing the battery.

    Any ideas?

Well that was short-lived. A few of the LEDs in the amber array around the passenger side light have stopped working. I noticed it when unlocking the 4Runner yesterday. The lights are supposed to have a really good warranty but the removal and install procedure is not something I want to go through every 10 months or so. I'm considering just going back to stock.

Damn man this sucks to hear. I built my own so to speak but I’ve been looking at these for a while and gen 2 was supposed to fix the issues.
At that price point they should be perfect.

Attached is my set I built

Can you guys post some high beam pics from these? Do you think they are a big improvement over the stock high beams?

Looks like you're having the same problem I am with the passenger side of the bumper wanting to pop out. Nice looking lights!

That would have been a good comparison. I didn't take a high beam picture with the stock headlights. It may take a while for me to get back out to get one with the aftermarket ones. From my limited experience the Morimotos seem better, but the high beam on the stock lights seemed fine. I don't get a lot of opportunity to use high beams.

    How did you build them?

Generally speaking.......I wouldn't be able to comprehend the finer details.

Bought switchback led strips from the retrofit source. Put the lights in the oven to open them up and wired them up. I’m about $250 into them.

my DRL’s are way too bright so I’ve gotta swap mine out to something that doesn’t blind people
