It looks like the MTM (Multi terrain monitor) Premium Package is only $500 bucks ( $850 total including "50 state emissions" fee. Curious on other member thoughts. Worth it? Better going aftermarket? Etc.
    Thanks.

I think it would be useful in the right situations. If you think you will have a use for it and the looks don’t bother you, I’d say go for it. Small potatoes considering the overall price tag on a new 4runner.

I wish it was an option a couple years ago, I definitely would’ve opted for it

I'd get it for me. It makes spotting on your own easier. Also I can't tell where the front is on this thing.

Do it. That's cheap compared to doing aftermarket. Plus OEM will never potentially conflict with warranty.

Most of the features that are really useful tend to be less costly (not to mention already installed) when added on as options when buying new.

One of the most recent comparisons between the new Bronco and a 4R Off-Road had the guy lamenting the lack of a front-facing camera on the 4R, so apparently his comparison model lacked this option.

I wonder how hard it would be to retrofit into an older 4runner in some fashion.

    Must have..!!

The 2 options I have for around 100 bucks only got front camera. $500 for a 360' camera is an awesome deal.

Front camera is a must on a 4Runner when you are using for what's its made for.

Potentially quite useful, and as a Toyota product there should be no warranty problems.

My inbound 22 ORP has the "off road premium plus" package, I think it was called.

$850 includes full Softex seating and MTM.

I'd just get an anytime backup kit for a front cam. Someone notated that even the front windshield defroster wiring changed at some point.

i opted for it. would it be nicer if the camera resolution was better? yes. could i go aftermarket for cheaper? yes. but it's sometimes nice to get it out of the factory. i dont have a lot of friends that off road so it'll pay off during those times i dont have a spotter!

while on the topic, im thinking the 14-19 pro grille would work with the MTM models since you no longer have to account for the radar cutout.

Sounds like a bargain for only five hundred bucks! I'm sure trying to add this aftermarket would cost way more, and five hundred bucks over the course of an auto loan is only a few bucks a month. Seems well worth it to me.

I've looked at that, but currently out for 2018s. I've played around with the idea of wireless cams underneath body or 4 in each tire well (some guy on net did 6, with two underbody pointing at diff.).

    Other items I've looked at..https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NtyZseeU8_I&t=11s

I have been looking online for aftermarket to give me the MTM. Would be nice if it was on my 2020. The infotainment system looks to be the same but obviously with this added capability.

I have been shopping for a 2022 (yes, have to be patient) with the MTM. I know officially what 'packages' contain it but wondering if other 'packages' or 'options' contain it as well - you know just called a different name. I would say I have had to educate 95% of the sales people about the MTM.

I fixed mine under the bumper. Only 1 camera though. Definitely far from capabilities of newer MTM package.

Patience, yes. Education of dealers, almost always. Haven't heard it called anything else except "multi terrain monitor- back" on some dealer websites in AZ.

On the sheet my dealer sent me, listing all the options on my inbound 22 ORP it lists "Premium Package, Off Road Premium Plus Package. Includes Softex and Multi Terrain Monitor (MTM)"

    Eta - for $850

I've always found that description of the package a bit weird and redundant. The plus packages are only available on the Premium trims anyway, which come standard with softex, to begin with. They could have just said the Plus Package adds MTM, but it is what it is.

Dang- I bought the 2020+ that has the cutout. I guess it will not be noticable.

it probably won't be. from what i know it's less than a 1/4 inch divot on the underside of the grille. you'd have to stare at it from beneath to even notice.

I doubt anyone but me would notice, but it will trigger my OCD.

Odd that the 2020+ part with the cutout is considerably less that the 2015-2019 part.
