Exactly. I have mentioned in a couple of my post, telling new off-roaders, the best $300 investment they can make is taking a class in off-roading. Moab has a lot of roll overs because of inexperience, hence, there is no shortness of professional teachers taking you off-roading and teaching you how to tackle different terrain. When I make that comment to newbies they look at me like a cow at a train wreck.

Over the years when people asked me about getting a motorcycle my response never changed. Get a dirt bike. Then maybe in a few few years, a street bike.

    Better to sweat than bleed.
I’m always amazed at the number of riders on the freeway, girlfriend tucked behind, both in shorts. T-shirts and sandals.

There's a blog post out there somewhere that chronicles a young ladies return from being blown off the back of a rice rocket while wearing nothing but a bikini. Horrible what she's been through due to her and the stupid drivers choices. We learn if we live.

I was curious. Pretty nasty pictures at the end. Poor girl.

Her description of the accident is definitely chilling. I just can't even imagine the pain she felt. I think it's good to read things like this to remind us to be careful.

Your choice to live in the real world is a smart one. So many live in denial these days.

Pinstripes, lots of em. Plus a couple dents.
Keep your hands, feet, and body parts inside the ride at all times.

Always told my older daughter: don’t get into a car with a drunk driver, don’t hop onto a bike as a passenger.

None. Bone Stock. EXCEPT: Brushguard, tow hitch, both welded to the frame. It's good to have friends and a fully equipped garage!
I rode for a long time in Yuma. Got nailed by others 3 times, and after that, it hurts too much to ride any longer. Well, one of them, a wild horse got me. I lost an eye to him, but he died at the scene. I win!
The other two we other drivers. One ran to Mexico after the accident and vanished. Never sawhim again. Thankfully not a whole lot of damage to me, or the bike.
The last one, a Little Old Lady pulled out right in front of me. I laid it down, but when I slid into her car, it stood up, and threw me up and over her car. Short, but exciting flight. Shattered my right lower arm and elbow when I landed. Two things made me madder than a wet cat though.
First, I had just got it out of the shop. That afternoon! Just needed a little maintenance. New oil and filter, new tires, that kind of thing. I just didn't have time.
Second, my sunglasses fell off, and out of my helmet, on my first bounce. THAT really got me. Ever since the horse took my eye back in 92, my one that's left is really light sensitive. And the sun in Yuma is harsh.
When we got to court, she said she didn't owe me a cent. Why? I swore at her a lot. In several languages. Marines are good at picking up swear words. :D I was trying to get up on my feet to go kill her, but I couldn't get my right arm to work. Lucky for her, it happened in front of a Baskin Robin's, right at the local PD shift change. The place was crammed with cops, and they all saw the whole thing. They...restrained...me from getting up and killing the old bird there on the spot. A motorcycle officer, great guy, HUGE African American. Most of the local riders knew him. He held me down by the helmet. Threatened to sit on me if he had to LOL. He did tell the little Old Lady to get back in her car and lock the doors, though, or he'd let me up.

So, now I have a metal plate in my arm. A couple years ago, I fell off a step stool, broke my left kneecap and right wrist. Now I've got a metal plate and screws in my wrist, too. I'm turning into a friggen cyborg.

After that last accident, I gave it up. I love to ride, but it just hurts too much to be enjoyable any more.

Sorry for rambling all over. Back to the original thread, y'all!
    Pat☺
