Last night, I did the "wrong" ATF change procedure. Worked just fine.
Drained it out, measured how much old came out, put the exact same amount back in. Opened check plug, drained a little out. Drove it around the block, shifted through all gears. Check plug out, topped it off with a couple pumps, all done.
    Shifts just fine.

Nice set up, nice bike! My two favorite possessions: #1 - mountain bike. #2 - 4Runner.

I just learned this, but you may need to get a Techstream hooked up to your vehicle to reset the transmission fluid status. From the service manual they say "Perform ATF Thermal Degradation Estimate Reset after replacing the ATF."

I haven't looked at this in great detail so I'm not 100% sure what will happen if you don't. Maybe you'll throw a code at some point telling you your fluid needs replacing.

Not much love for the 4Runner lately. Waiting on bumpers and rack to come in, haven’t even started it in 2 weeks. Been showing my house some love tho. For anyone with a Rv eternabond on all your seams and penetrations is worth a look.

Leave them bolts shiny! It looks good. My KMC's came all black and honestly I wish they had a little more pop.

Not at all, just wanted the entire smoked out look. The sides of the USR are blacked out, but obviously the blinker still needs to have a reflector housing. Just preference. Honestly, the USR’s fit better than the Anzo’s

I’ve got the same style wheels on 285/70r17’s. The bolts seemed off when I first got them but I left them as they were and I actually really like them now.

Put some storage on top of the roof rack. Now I can store my recovery gear on the roof instead of in the back of the 4Runner since I use the 3rd row seats.

I have the same case on my rack and so far I've been happy with it. It was the right depth to put my Viair 440p on it's side with some foam cushion in there to boot.

I really like the lower profile compared to other offerings. The 4Runner gets bad gas mileage already with my lift and 100lb wheel & tire combo. This is what I put in it:
    • Tree saver
    • Tow chain
    • Hi-lift jack foot
    • Winch protector
    • Jumper cables
    • Recovery rope
    • Shackle
    • More room to spare

Poor pics, mounted a simple milk crate to the back of coolerslide to utilize the little bit of dead space where the slide doesn’t quite meet the back of the seats.

Well I used u-bolts to go around the cross support bars on the roof rack. I then grounded the extra bolt length off so it is relatively flush on the inside. I would say it is “permanent” because I don’t want to install the bolts again. But I will be taking them out to dip them in flex seal for a nicer finish and to hopefully provide some protection from rubbing. So they can be removed. I will silicone the holes up after doing the flex seal but honestly they are pretty tight fit right now because I drilled exactly to size. Happy to share more pictures if desired.
It was raining pretty good this afternoon. I wasn’t driving anywhere and I didn’t even have the lid latched down all the way as I was working on it before lunch and then it started raining pretty good. No problems this far but it might rain tomorrow when I am driving and I will know more then.
This is the Vault v700. I was looking at the v800 but it was just to long and I currently store my tire on the roof when off-roading while I wait to save up for the c4 bumper with tire carrier. Need to see if anyone is down for a group buy.

Thanks Grant, exactly what I was thinking, even J bolts with big washers. I have a pelican rifle case that I haven't used in a few years. Didn't really want to drill holes in it but what the heck. Better utilized on the rack for recovery gear

Yeah I just spent $150 on this case and then went a drilled holes in it. But that is what I bought it for. :spending: I don’t think Cabela’s will accept the return now. ;)

I replaced the front rotors and pads yesterday, with Advics parts. The factory pads had Advics stamped right on them, and I was happy to find replacements out in the wild that didn't carry the "Toyota" parts price.
Other than cracking a Craftsman 19mm socket which will be replaced under warranty at Ace, it went swimmingly. I would strongly suggest that if you can, re-use the old hardware (retainer springs and pad pins), or get genuine Toyota parts. The AC Delco hardware I got wasn't quite the same and didn't go on properly, so I used the old stuff. No issues there.
