2010 to 2013 before a massive interior and exterior upgrade.

I feel like these are the forgotten 4Runners, especially the TEs which seem extremely few and far between.

They are so rare, people in the bay area seem to think that my old 2013 POS is some type of new special edition, despite the rust and dents.

Finally some love.. I have a TE in the exact same color in Sacramento. I do have the new front end envy though...sadly.

I have a hard time liking the early SR5 because of the similar look to the limited, but I do love my 13 Trail Edition though!20201215_155300.jpg

I seriously had a thing for the early 5th gen trail edition. Honestly I think they look better than the current front ends, in that blocky old school way. Especially liked the wheels and black wheel arches.

I tried looking for a used one before getting my new one, but they are such unicorns I finally gave up.

Now that Im used to the new front end, the 5.1s seem a tiny bit dated, but it still has that classic look to it

Neoprene seats. Looks a lot like my 2007 and 2010 FJCs.

Dash cluster is completely different, infotainment is completely different, internal materials are completely different, seating surfaces are completely different, just about every single piece of plastic is completely different.

My buddy's 2012 was inspiration for me eventually getting my 2020. I've always really liked the pre-facelift 5th generation 4Runners. I prefer the more simple look over the overly "aggressive" look that lots of modern vehicles seem to be trending to. He doesn't post anymore, but here's some pics from 2012: BCD_9781xs_3be5293fffc63deb2b7f38b8fc712a6879746d76.jpg

Mine has those too, they came with the trail roof rack. I have no idea what the hell they do, but they have a very low weight rating, like 30 pounds. They look like some type of tiedown hooks.

4 of those tie-downs came with OEM roof rack. I found 2 more, which are used in rail system on Tacoma beds. Not sure of functionality yet , but if 4 were good, then 6 must be better?

Do those tie-down doohickeys flip 180 degrees up? If so, they would be useful as tie-down points with something on the roof rack.

Same size, specs, etc, but a different shade of gray/silver. IIRC, the FJ wheels are darker.

I love the look of these wheels.

Interesting. I bought mine used, those hooks aren't there, but I was happy just to have the crossbars.

I really like your set up with that winch, what mount are you using? I'd like to do something similar to mine eventually.

I would love to have a TE. Best of the 5th gens imo. Happy w my 12' Limited tho. I always thought the face lift looked like a large mouth bass, but its grown on me. The big chrome lip on the LE face lift is meh. Although they dont seem to be a big problem like the 4th gens, the SAIP is non existent in the 10-13' years. Gives you a little more room in the engine bay too.
