2016 TRD Pro lift? Is Wescott the only deal using stock Bilstein shocks?

    Hello,

I mistakenly thought Eibach was developing a spring lift for the older Pro’s with Bilstein shocks; similar to the spring kit they currently have for Fox shocked Pro’s. After a phone call with them yesterday, apparently, I am mistaken. I was told I could use their rear springs, but the front springs for the 2019 Fox shocks would not work on the Bilstein shocks. Dang, back to the drawing board.

I’m not wanting to trash my Bilstein shocks at this point as I rarely “off-road”, I only have 32k miles on this 4 runner, and I’m trying to keep the cost as low as possible without using ride trashing spacers. My plan for tires are SL 285 Wildpeaks on the stock TRD Pro wheels.

Anything else I should consider besides Wescott? How bad will the rear spacer trash my ride quality? Apparently, users of this kit like what it does to the ride. I would rather lift with a spring in the back, but most of the aftermarket lift springs for the rear require you to use an aftermarket shock instead of the stock shock, probably to match the extension abilities of the spring.

    Thanks!

So you are trying to lift by just changing the spring but keep the same shocks?

    That’s correct.

I can't imagine the shock its self being too fat to fit inside the spring.

Maybe it overextends the shock? You said you rarely offroad don't want to try slap them on since you got um?

Yes, could be an overextension thing. I’m not opposed to the Wescott spring perch up front, basically it’s just like an adjustable coil over, but not adjustable. Could always look at Bilstein B12 or Icon 52700 2” spring in the back instead of the Wescott spacer?

Anyone have experience with the Dobinsons C59-599 or C59-505 rear spring? They seem to be built to the stock spring rate while providing 1.25”-1.5” of lift which should theoretically play nice with the Bilstein stock shocks.

Dobinsons had a replacement front spring for the bilstein pro shock for a while. I would email Mike and see if it’s still available. I think it gave a similar lift as the Eibach.

Thanks, Mike says they still have it. Unfortunately, it only gives it 1” additional height. I’m guessing people do it just to level their Pro’s without having a 1” spacer up front. It’s just not quite enough for 285’s though, they might fit, but might not. I would likely have to add a 1/2” spacer up front. I know, splitting hairs.

My plan is to do a full Wescott kit and see how I like it. If I don’t like the spacer in the back, I’ll put Dobinsons 505 or 599 springs in. With the Wescott up front, a 599 spring in back would give me 1/2”-3/4” rake, the 505 spring would yield a 1” rake which I understand is the factory rake on ‘16 Pro’s. Of course, that’s if the lift heights listed for these springs are correct for my vehicle, I read a lot of posts about people getting more lift than listed at times.

I shall see how the Wescott performs, I’ve yet to see a negative review from an end user.

I just used them to lift my Tundra that my daughter drives with 5100s. No complaints here. If/When I get a '22 TRD ORP, I'm gonna spend some pretty big bucks with them on it. They seem to be really Toyota focused...much like SLEE is in Colorado. FWIW.

I just ordered the kit; should be here later this week. My installers are working a month out, so it’s going to be a while before I get it installed.
