    Hi Folks

Been lurking here for some time, finally joining. I'm a Boston native who met my wife while living in Colorado in 99. I convinced her to move back east with me and she brought a 94 4Runner with her when she came out in 02.

Initially I wasn't impressed but between 02 and 06 I developed a healthy respect for it. We sold it in 06 and purchased an 06 sport. I wanted something a little safer for our growing family.

In 16 we traded the sport in for an off lease 16 SR5 with a 3rd row. All 3 4runners were our primary family car. I always had a pickup.

In 19 we again switched it up to a gently used Sequoia SR5 to cover the addition of 2 Great Pyrenees to the family. Trouble was I couldn't let go of the 16 4Runner. I'd grown so fond of them that I just couldn't part with it. My wife told me it was the 4runner or my pickup. One had to go. For the first time since 1988 I was without a pickup. I haven't missed it....too much.

To make a long story longer we got some tough news in the spring. My mother in law, who moved from out west to be closer to her daughter a couple years ago, was declared legally blind. Since she couldn't drive anymore she offered us her 96 4runner limited with 132000 miles. It's actually the proverbial little old lady car only driven on the weekends. Other than the surface rust that's developed on the frame and bumpers since she moved here and the cracked leather drivers seat, it's absolutely immaculate.

She loves the truck and I told her we'd take good care of it. She always maintained the truck but unfortunately she has no service records. I've been on here reading up on the 3rd gen so I can bring it up to snuff so that it
lives a long reliable life as a daily driver.

So here I am, looking forward to meeting and learning from the community.

Welcome, and thanks for the background! You have a gem in that ‘96, but sorry for the unfortunate circumstances that brought it to you. May it go another 25 years!
