I just discovered how to get "dark mode" all the time on the Stock radio. I feel like a genius. I was searching for that for a week.

Just found my middle row seat has the little fold down portion - can't believe I never tried pulling that lever.

I also didn't know about the touch-lock feature until I accidentally discovered it a few months ago while washing the truck. I always thought those lines on the door handle were just decorative. RTFM!

I have a Tacoma and a 4runner. The 4runner has more unexpected cool features like reclining row two, full drop rear window, backseat USB's.
The Tacoma has auto off headlites. How does a 2018 4runner not have that! wtf

my dog votes for the 4runner. LOVES that back window.

You can leave your headlights on and turn the 4R off and the headlights will shut off shortly after. So, in essence, auto off.

I tried that on my 18' SR5 and they never shut off.

This is because you must have turned the key back up to AUX after you turned off the car.

Turn off the car and pull the key out right away. Lights should turn off in 30 seconds or so.

You can also turn the car off, pull the key out right away and press the lock button twice to turn the headlights off completely.

    Bone stock!
Those little touch-lock lines are also on the underside of the door handle in the same place. That's handy if you're wearing gloves and having trouble getting it to lock -- a thumb and forefinger pinching both the top and bottom lines helps.

I drove my '15 Limited for at least three years before I realized it recorded the radio station you were listening to so you could rewind the song if you liked it, or if you got a phone call you could still hear the same song when finished. My new '21 has this feature too.

It is not as easy as the kid in the video said, there are 2 frequencies, one for the immobilizer (that talks with the ignition push button and allows the engine to start) and the proximity frequency, that allows opening the doors when the fob is close. Also, all this is encrypted. Problem in the past with reading frequencies was that not much thought went into encryption, and many auto manufacturers did not use all the encryption features that the chips offered. To read the RFID for the immobilizer, you need to be inches away from the fob, you can't do that through walls, without it, you can't start the engine. So somebody should "accidentally" bump to the pocket/purse you hold the fob. That does not mean it is impossible to have the vehicle stolen, or more likely, opened and burglarized. But with the Toyota app, which is notifying you about a bunch of things, including start/stop, doors unlocked/locked, etc, it is not as easy to steal or open the doors without you knowing. Add to that the fact that the vehicle communicates constantly it's position and technical data with Toyota servers, stealing the vehicle becomes a risky business. Unless a thief steals the vehicle, then immediately puts it inside a container that would block any communication, then is close to impossible to not get caught. That would imply some serious organized crime, and if I would be planning something illegal, I would definitely think of other things less risky than stealing Toyotas, lol. What I find useful in the video, is the battery saving tip.

    Nice!

Trial and error on my part.

I kept wondering why my lights would stay on sometimes and turn off other times until I made the connection.

    Glad it helped

How were you turning the vehicle off prior that the lights weren't turning off then?

The wife mentioned this today, the rear window wiper is offset so that it clears the part of the window the driver uses.
I don't remember any of our other SUVs begging that way.

I like the fact the dash display if in the compass mode shows the speed limit.

You can Techstream / Carista the headlights to turn off at varying intervals or when opening the drivers door (like Tacoma's default setting).

I don't know what their current offer is but when I did mine last year I bought the dongle for maybe $25, you get a free years subscription to carista with the purchase of the dongle so that was nothing, I used the dongle to reprogram the 4Runner and the Tacoma the way I wanted them, then I sold the dongle for 20 bucks and canceled the carista subscription. So I was like 10 bucks into it and about 20 minutes of work to set up two vehicles how I wanted them.

Of course the day after I mailed the dongle to the new owner my wife told me she wanted me to do something else to the 4Runner but it was too late then!!!!
