Hi everyone. I’m new to this forum and am grateful to have this as a wonderful resource. I have searched the forums and have seen others discuss PCS malfunctions in the setting of a tire change AND lift.

What about just a tire change, specifically to a BFGoodrich All-terrain tire with the same exact size as the stock Dunlop tires? I had this done yesterday at a Big O Tires with an alignment. They said all was good. When I drove away, I noticed that there was an error on the display showing a PCS malfunction and to visit the dealer. When I attempt to engage cruise control, it says cruise control malfunction as well. I just went in for a tire change, which I didn’t believe would be a shock to the TSS especially given that the tires were the same size.

I have an appt with the dealer but the earliest appt is in another 2 weeks. I called Big O and they told me to go to an alignment shop in town which may be able to recalibrate the PCS, at a lovely price of $300. Not sure if I want to do this. Ill wait for the dealership in the interim, but the PCS malfunction alert dominates the multifunctional display and shows up again every 5 seconds if I hit the back arrow.

Any ideas what may have caused this? I left a message with the manager of Big O and intend to discuss in person if I don’t hear back. Makes me wonder if it’s worthwhile doing all service in the future with the dealership, as I don’t believe they’d let me drive away without telling me that the dash was displaying malfunction signs.

Thanks in advance, and I’m excited to hopefully contribute to these forums and provide helpful cases for those who may experience a similar issue in the future.

Bad weather while driving ? Or any bug hit on front of the camera on windshield?

Otherwise it should not do that. People have lifts installed also , their PCS is working fine. My tundra does it some time in bad weather or when some bug hits directly in the front camera.

No bad weather, windshield and sensor are clean. I’ve had it say it was unavailable temporarily during the winter during a bad storm, but never a malfunction. The tire place said perhaps it was the alignment (they offered no help). I’ll update once I bring it to the dealer next week.

    Welcome to the forum!

That's an unusual situation. I can't offer any help, unfortunately. Hopefully it's something simple and the dealer can get it squared away for you.

You got the tires changed with no lift , how come your alignment will be off, secondly PCS is not affected by alignment. Take it to the dealership , let them diagnose and fix it.

    UPDATE:
I brought it to the dealership and they simply recalibrated the PCS. Error is gone and cruise control works again. The mechanic said perhaps the alignment threw it off but wasn’t certain. They covered it under warranty so who knows what the cost would have been without it. Just figured I’d update you all, thanks again for your help.
