I’d like to turn my rear seat around so it faces backwards. Is that a thing? Can I do that?

Safer for my dogs to keep them in the back, and for my friend’s kids who may ride in the back seat occasionally. They’re big enough (and certainly old enough) for no car seat but barely. Rear facing is safer anyway. I’m not sure why we don’t just have cars with rear facing back seats.

No. Not possible. The car's body supports the rear seat bottom. It's not like the front bucket seats. There would be no place for your legs if turned around. Then the seat belts would be all wrong too.

Car makers have flirted with the idea of backwards seats but it always flopped. No one really likes to face backwards for any length of time in a car.

The only seats that face backwards in 3rd gens are the 3rd row ones. Its probably not ideal in a crash either

It can be done but to do it with safety in mind would require a lot of reengineering - especially if you're going to tote kids around. Nix it if ya can't fix it.

None. Bone Stock. EXCEPT: Brushguard, tow hitch, both welded to the frame. It's good to have friends and a fully equipped garage!
Big reason it fails, is that riding bass-ackwards really makes car-sickness worse. Your inner ears are telling you one thing, the forward motion of the vehicle, but your eyes the opposite.. Result: Severe nausea.
Not so bad on aircraft, since there's a much more limited view outside, but even then, it's only the flight attendant's seats, that are only used during take-off and landing. A relatively very short period of time. Watch them sometime, too. They tend to not look outside when they're seated there.

    Take care, all!

A lot of trains/public transport has rear facing seats. I've had this discussion with my friends before that I'm surprised seats aren't designed backwards. We clearly do it with infants for a reason.

If you've ridden a moderately full train, most of the front facing seats on trains are taken before the rear facing ones. Trains also don't jump around or make sharp turns like cars.

People just don't like it. Car companies aren't in the business engineering features people don't like.
