Hi, I saw that some other owners tried to disassemble the glove box to change the lock but broke the plastic backing cover! Anyone/mechanics knows how to disassemble the cover without breaking it. I did try to pry it but it wouldn't give and probably would break if I tried with more pressure. I have the new lock and want to change it. I see by the illustration that it does come apart but it doesn't say how! Thanks

I believe this is the right assembly if you do happen to bust it (like many other have apparently).

How far did you get with this, or did you manage to get it solved?

This the outer part of the lock but I can't get to the bolts in the back and no I haven't tried yet. I didn't want to damage my glovebox like the others did! I was hoping a tech was monitoring this thread and give us the answer. If I do find a way, I will post it for everyone.

Hi, For those who want to remove or replace the glovebox lock, it has nothing to do with the plastic backing on the glovebox. Just remove the two screws holding the lock and while the door is open pry out the lock assembly. To take out the lock assembly, use a small screwdriver and pry the locking tab on the lock side and it will come out. There's a small spring, don't lose it! Now if only I can find my new lock I can install it! I have pictures if needed, I just don't know how to upload to this site yet.
