I'm happy to see you didn't pick low profile tires.

I tried 275/55R20 on mine and I see my wife managed to kiss a curb only in couple of days. I'm so glad that I have 17in wheels now.

Silver lining is that your offset will keep you 4Runner a little cleaner. My sidewalls and a sliver of tread stick out and it's instantly dirty after I wash and drive.

It's interesting where you ended up compared to your original plan. I am curious about the chunky tire look with the never-going-offroad aesthetics. Why not a lighter, quieter all-season tire?

Hey Deuxdiesel! The wheel combo I ended up with was my 6th choice. My 1-4 choices were either sold out, discontinued or the supplier had no idea when they'd be available again. All of those earlier choices were offroad wheels with the tire either going to be Open Country or Wildpeaks.

The Diablo's (the chrome wheels in this post) were my 5th choice, and I was going to pair that with Pirelli's. That rim was sold out with the supplier with no eta from the manufacturer.

I picked up the phone and called an offroad tire shop 1.5 hours away and said... what do you have that will fit my 4runner? (but it had to be gloss black milled, 18x9 and +1 offset) and he said Fuel Triton's. SOLD!! The Open Country tires weren't available in the 265/65's (or so I was told)... so I said f#@k it and ordered the Ridge Grapplers. They look great, are aggressive and from the research I did, there weren't any complaints about it's street performance.

I'll NEVER go offroading, but I didn't buy the 4runner for that. I bought it for it's reliability, capability and looks. I guess the same can be said about the wheels.

Any ways... I'm very happy with the choice.

Thought I'd share a couple pics of the new wheels with the new bumper upgrade.

Looks good. The tires make it look tough.

I'm not in the 24' club but think 22's look pretty decent:
