I am not a fan of the factory step bars and was looking at switching them out with some better looking ones. After looking at some other 4runners on this forum, I have noticed that some of you have nixed the steps altogether and I like the way it looks but am still skeptical. I am short so after I lift my 4runner I may still need them to get in. LOL. So my question is keep the steps or get rid of em?

Do you off-road? If you do you’ll want rock sliders , not step bars. At least not factory ones. Keep in mind if you want a set of good rock sliders, it’s usually a good 2 month process between order and delivery. Putting them on is pretty straight forward if they are bolt on. Plenty of YouTube vids for that

I can vouch that Nfab has a great selection that surpasses factory OEM choices

Thanks. I have heard that from several sources. Must be true.

Unless you get rock sliders I prefer OEM running boards over nfab nerf bars. OEM running boards provide good cover from flying rock chips on trails. I wish my rock sliders are fully covered like oem running boards vs the holes on top plate.

Rock sliders can be used as steps.
