Sighting chip shortage. Toyota cuts global production by 40% through at least September.

"All but one of the automaker’s North American plants will suspend production through September. Only the plant in San Antonio, Texas, which builds the well-known Tacoma and Tundra pickups, will still be operational. Toyota estimates that this drop in production will result in 360,000 fewer cars being built."

Interesting read about chips and the company that supplies the machines that make them.

I noticed that the statement didn’t show the 4 “W’s”
I have a suggestion for TMCo., bring back the simplicity of the vehicle’s built in the ‘70’s.
The only thing technically advanced was the AM radio.
Let us drive them again. Let us use the gas, brakes and clutches so we can have fun again.
That’s a lot of lettuce for this old man.
And I do know that it’s not going to happen.

In a couple of days I’ll be leaving SoCal. and driving back to MT.
Oh and the SXM and A/C, will be much appreciated. jajaja

Dealers have already put a “bump” on the prices. $3,000 to $6,000 over MSRP, some places even more. Hopefully consumers are smart enough to wait until dealerships stop being greedy. Nothing like taking advantage of a bad situation for personal gain.

Every article I read about chip shortage had one thing in common. It will last all next year (2022) and some state possibly 2023. It will be not a good time to be in the market for awhile.

Wow, article is loaded with info. There is a thread floating around that shows exactly what Toyota is shutting down and when, I think the 4Runner is losing 2 days of production.

Bone stock, but puting Fj45 axles and engine in it.
Well if the government stayed out of the fuel crisis back in the 70's and let it play out and didn't put regs on fuel efficiency and smog we wouldn't need chips to regulate all of that stuff.

CAFE (1975) is the driving force. The manufacturers having to reduce weight to meet these regulations, such as thin metal. Turbo 4s being put in place of V6s, ect. Already the hard push to EVs is coming. Toyota is resisting for now it seems.

I got lucky. My Taco was taken from me prematurely due to a red light runner in late April of this year. By then, you couldn't find available 4runners on a dealer lot anywhere here. The guy that sold me the Taco was able to secure me a 4runner that fit everything I was looking for and the insurance company paid out the same week that it arrived onto the lot. By the next week, the rate hike was already in effect pushing everything over MSRP.

What I am finding crazy is that it seems that every 4th vehicle I see on the road has a dealer tag right now.
