Installed 1”rear coil spacers. I previously installed 1” front and I decided that a bit of rake when empty is what I prefer.
I may do a whole suspension someday, but I wanted a little lift in the meantime.
I think that small of a spacer lift is well within what the stock setup can handle, and it looks better and keeps the undercarriage out of the snow and mud a little better

Also, I passed the test for my ham technician license yesterday, just have to wait for the FCC to process and I’m an amateur radio operator!

Drivers side is nothing worth noting. Passenger side. That ain’t buffing out. We can put our fingers nails in most C3D06D77-6D13-40B9-8609-A66C8D68734F.jpg291CF4A2-A68B-4437-87E3-A377C478D1DE.jpg

Lol. It happens. I wasn’t looking to re design the whole truck but the trail we were on there was no option to turn around we tried multiple times and short of backing all the way out it was move forward.

Finally got around to installing my RCI skid plates yesterday. The transfer case skid was definitely the biggest pain in my butt, that said, overall everything went on super easy and I'm super happy with the quality. Plus I clearly needed it because I noticed that one of the cross member bolts was shaved down a bit (that bolt was real fun to take off) and that my stock fuel tank skid plate is already dented ... so I think I know what I'm ordering next :D

How heavy are the plates? Have you managed to lift them by yourself?

all together (according to the RCI website) the aluminium plates are 68lbs. I did have to pull out my jack to hold up the transfer skid plate mounting bracket while I was tightening the bolts to the frame (it kept pushing that bracket down so I needed upward pressure to keep it flush on the frame). But the rest I just would put the plate on my creeper, set the creeper at arms reach and then crawl under, grab the creeper and then place the plate. I worked very slowly (had to take breaks to play with the pups) and just slowly moved my way from front to back.

I found this youtube video was very helpful :)

Thanks for the answer. The only question is - can I replace pups with a cat since I don't have any?

Absolutely, I ignored my cat during the install, mostly because he was inside the house and he has no desire to ever step foot outside.

Replaced the pathetic door speakers with some better ones.

Can't say I've ever seen one as lightweight as this. Magnet must weigh no more than a couple ounces.

    Sounds better now ;-0

Thanks, chomping at the bit to get them on but I still have a lot of work ahead of me. Need to move to a different region and I wouldn’t have to worry so much about the rust

Changed my oil for the 1st time today. Ran out of free dealer changes.

Pleasantly surprised to see that none of the skid plate bolts were stripped, but the factory plastic filter housing was gorilla tight. Needed to use a breaker bar to get it off.

Upgraded the plastic housing with an aluminum housing for a Camry...

    IMG_20210823_120434667.jpg

Not necessary since the plastic one is so well protected, but I feel better having an OEM metal one, and it was only $35.

My new Motiv filter wrench worked very well...

    IMG_20210823_120450935.jpg

Filled it up with Mobil 1 5w-20 since it's so hot out here and I tow a fair amount.

Next change should go a little quicker. Nice that I didn't have to jack it up since there is plenty of room with the lift and taller tires.

Plastic seems like a poor choice for a part exposed to engine temperature.

Do you have a part number?

Pinstripes, lots of em. Plus a couple dents.
I cheated and went over to my local tire / lube place and had them install my heavy Shrockworks steel skid plates.
Their lift made it really easy. They have a separate part of the lift to hold up the skid plates. I helped them with the stick nuts and they charged me $50, plus I gave each of the 2 guys working on it a $10 tip.

Did a crazy trail on Saturday. Lots of tall ledges. I almost had to break out the winch but was able to bump it up them. looking over my 4Runner afterwards - dammit put a dent in the same passenger side front quarter panel. Almost the same place as the previous dent I put there. No pics or video from the trail as it was a little questionable.

Edit: Actually heard Atrac kicking in. Previously I always thought it was kind of passive. On one climb it really made noise working the brakes to get over a steep ledge.

Aftermath pic. My pinstripe collection continues to grow.

I just recently installed. So too soon to give any real feedback. But it was highly recommended by the shop, and reviews were good.

Blacked out badges, window deflectors, smoked 3rd brake light. I have a Borla muffler on order as well as some color matched engine cover stickers. I'll be painting the stock wheels soon as well. Falken tires in the fall as well.

Kinda hurts seeing all those scratches but it's great that you are getting out there and using it for what it's designed to do.

haha. Im still getting used to pinstripes. But I know Im crazy because I still refuse to take the 4runner to a regular car wash to avoid swirl marks from the brushes.
