    Hey everyone!

I’m planning to purchase a 4runner between 2010 - 2016. There is someone locally selling a 2020 TRD Pro Suspension and would like to know if is a direct swap for the trim level I’m looking to purchase.

Any help would be greatly appreciate it!!

All the parts for everything is interchangeable. That said unless your getting them cheap don’t bother.

Thanks for your reply! He is selling the full set at 1,400. Is that a good price? I’m truly not doing off road, I just like how smooth they ride.

Just an FYI the rear springs and control arms are the same as what you have now. So, basically $1,400 for the shocks. In that case there are other cheaper alternatives especially if you are not off-roading it. But, that price is still much cheaper than retail.

No problem. How many miles on them? If it were me at that price I would go with dobinsons twin tube set up or for a bit more their IMS series. But that's me. And there are still many alternatives available.

If it were me I'd pass and get something new. Dobinsons gives a 2y warranty I believe. Mike at Exit Off Road can hook you up and answer questions. He is a very active member on here.

Have you looked at the prices of used 4runners lately? Interested in what you find for 2010s thru 16s

the price is Fair you will like the ride quality and they are OEM parts i have the same set up and light off road with them too and they are great from the picture they don't look beat-up as the previously mentioned you don't need the rear spring or the UCA good luck

If you know that you really like the ride, and you're not on a super tight budget, it might be a good purchase. Personally I would want to pay a little less than that, but I don't think it's terrible, it's about 50% of retail I think. Yes there are other options that may be a little bit cheaper, but do they ride as well? That I don't know.

If you're not trying to lift it at all, just going for a better ride quality, this may be your best option. Take this with a grain of salt however, because I have not driven a TRD Pro so I can't comment on the way that they ride. Every review I've ever seen of a TRD Pro 4Runner with the Fox shocks, people always rave about the ride so I would imagine that it's good. Personally I don't think the 4Runner rides that great in stock form, I'm still suffering with mine because I haven't figured out exactly what I want to do with it yet. But if I were to stumble upon a Fox suspension for a good price, and would probably snap it up.

Do a little research on this though, because there was a few years of the fox suspension where they had clunking issues. I actually did find some fox for sale locally earlier this year, and people on here clued me into that issue and it turned out the ones I was looking at were among the affected years, so I passed.

Me personally won't pay anything to get TRDPRO suspension. I would spend my money for a good Bilstien or Toytec lift kit. I would not spend my money to buy TRDPRO Fox and then having add spacers to get a lift. I will get a setup that is designed to lift.
TRDPRO is nothing fancy. No where near an high-end suspension setup.

Appreciate everyone’s input! It seems like there is pros and cons as I was expecting. I just wanted to make sure that the price and quality of the Pro suspension are worth the price etc.

I highly suggest you talk to a good 4x4 shop convenient to you (Like I use Toytec here in Denver) and tell your requirement.

    For example:
"I need most comfortable onroad suspension lift and occasional easy trails with 3 in lift with no added weight. No budget restrictions"
    Or
"I need a comfortable onroad suspension setup with light offroad performance with around $2000 budget "
Or even something like I did for my Limited "I need a lift just for the looks with pretty much offroad is not a concern with least amount of money"

A good 4x4 shop should be able to give multiple options.

Well, the OP didn't specifically mention that he wanted to lift it. Not everyone wants to lift, some just want improved ride quality.

How does bilstein ride? I see people use 5100s as a budget lift, but I've never heard anyone rave about the ride. 6112s look like a quality shock, but from what I understand they stiffen the ride, which IMO is worse.

Bilstien 5100 with 550 Toytec coils are pretty good on road. Never took it on rough trails with some speed.
But my ELKA 2.5 DCs are really good on rough trails with some speed. First day I was surprised how a rough terrain rides like tarmac.
