AVS or weather tech? Any problems with windows closing with the weather tech?
    AVS: 43 bucks
    WTech: 99 bucks

any other brands to look at?

Look like crap. Make wind noise at speed. Some can trap water and lead to rusting.

I didn’t realize they were still a thing except with people who think dangling a cigarette out the window won’t make their truck stink like an ashtray.

I thought they were for smokers too.

Had AVS for two weeks. Pulled them off, threw in garbage. Too much noise, especially with the windows open above the lower edge of the guards.

AVS may have two options. Inside the window mounting. Or outside. The inside looks better. And when used with the AVS II bug-shield. There is Less wind resistance. And I have all around better ride. Haven’t got up to 60mph yet though.

WeatherTech in-channel here. AVS in-channel never fit quite right and interfered with the auto-up function... WT's were a perfect fit and did not interfere with window auto-up feature.

Not just for smokers any more. My reason to add them is ventilation when sleeping inside, under less than ideal weather conditions.

I have the AVS in channel for the past 2 years. I've had no problems with them and don't notice any wind noise. But that's me. YMMV - Also, I had no problem with the windows auto up.

I have original AVS as I didn't want to mess with the in-channel installation. I heard that it could cause unnecessary strain on the window motors when closing all the way. Not sure how many issues actually arise out of that.

It was easy enough to install, 3M adhesive to the door, which can be removed and cleaned off at anytime. The rear windows fit well but the front aren't perfect and was a little annoying to put on but now I don't notice them at all. They also haven't produced any noticable noise, but to be fair the stock TRD Pro exhaust drones literally everything out including my radio. :lalala:

Must have for working remote on the road or camping so you can crack the window even in heavy rain. Most importantly the dog also appreciates it.

The in-channel tightens up the seals a little.

Ordered AVS initially but twice they came already scratched in brand new packaging so I ordered the WeatherTechs. Much better quality. Just know that they do add considerable wind noise

I was on a road trip with my brother last weekend. He tore off his front driver side AVS low profile one. The noise was unbearable for him. It turned out his window seal was the culprit! I may go WeatherTech.

WeatherTech on both of my 4Runners. It's not about smokers. It's about living somewhere where it's 95-105 degrees six months out of the year and needing to vent the truck while parked outside. One of the best purchases I've made for this truck.
