Bought a set of xbull traction boards while they're cheap on Amazon before the snow hits my area this winter and I'm mulling over the best way to mount them into the roof basket I have.

I'd like to keep them running parallel down the length of the car/basket, which means the two mounting plates they provide have to run sideways across the car, which happens to be the same direction the bars on my basket run (Rola Rack).

Thoughts? Anyone have a genius way of doing it? I'd like to avoid going the hardware store u-bolt and shrink wrap route if possible.

I'm tempted to try and make a set of 3/4" roll bar mounts work, something like this:

Yeah I just bungee mine, and then cable lock them when I'll be leaving it sitting out somewhere.

Yowza a pair of those costs more than the boards themselves! Looks like a great product though.

I used 4 3/8X3” hex bolts on my LFD cross bars. Put a flat washer against the bolt head under the rail, then flat washer on the top of the rail, then a lock washer, then a nut to hold the bolts in place. Put the boards on and then a flat washer, lock nut and nut on top. That’s it. I’ll always have a deep socket and ratchet with me if I need them. I looked at the black finger handles but felt like they could be unscrewed by anybody. No deep socket, no theft. Also don’t need the flat metal pieces.

Your rails have slots or holes through them though, I'm guessing?

This is what I'm working with, where it's round bar. I feel like attempting to sandwich washers around round bar would result in them slipping off.

They rust out like crazy. Had them on my Tacoma. 64FFADF5-70D6-4474-80AE-9DF7B0896D42.jpg

Good to know. I'll probably swap it all out for SS hardware anyway when I cobble my stuff together. I ended up buying the $20 4 pack of roll bar mounts off Amazon to mess around with. Worth case scenario I'll use them to mount stuff onto my adv bike crash bars haha

So this is what I came up with with the Amazon clamps, the included mounting bolts, and some other random hardware I had laying around.

I'll swap out the 10mm steel bolts for shorter stainless ones and replace the zinc bolts and wingnuts with actual hardware, too. I just test fitted it on there today and forgot to take pictures, whoops.
