Hello, so I just got my new 4Runner & am about to start my build but I just got a call from my audio installer that he isn’t sure yet if idatalink maestro works with the 2021’s. He says i th’a unknown if the kits and adapters work with the 2021s & I cant find a thread anywhere where someone put an aftermarket head unit in a 2021. I’ve had systems my whole life so naturally I think it’s possible but idk if the ecu is in the radio or something & so just wondering if anyone with a 2021 was able to upgrade their radio & if so please lmk. I’ve seen videos of 2020’s getting systems and new decks installed so I wanna believe the 2021 is the same as the 20 but I can’t be sure. That’s why I’m here looking for someone who personally owns one or knows of someone with a 21 with a new radio. Thanks in advance for any help!

Thank you for your reply. I appreciate the help, however I already saw that thread & it doesn’t really give me the answers I’m looking for. All it says it that the maestro works with the 2020 but there’s nothing about a 2021. Also that the alpine halo isn’t plug and play which I don’t have or plan to use. Since posting & asking for help I’ve found that the official idatalink maestro site currently says it supports 2021’s. That made me feel a little better. I’m not sure when it was updated. Maybe 2021 was added recently. I’m still looking for someone who might have it installed or has experience with attempting an install of it specifically on a 21 tho. Just because I can’t find a thread or video of one anywhere & I want to be sure. I’m most likely going to attempt to install everything & find out the hard way. I’ll report back with my findings. Might be a couple of weeks while I get all needed parts & adapters. In the meantime if anyone can chime in with any info I’d greatly appreciate it. & thanks again mtbpsych for taking the time to reply. I feel like if it works with a 2020 it’ll work with a 2021 since they ‘should’ have the same ecu but I just wanna be sure. Thanks in advance for anyone who can help.
