Front License Plate??????

Question - 2016 SR5. GF's daughters ride and she wanted to mount a plate on the front but its at a very weird angle because of the way the front bumper area is made. I assume there should be some sort of special bracket or something that she needs to get ?

 

Likely. I just bought mine (2021) and was trying to figure out what the large piece of plastic was in the glove box. Took me a while, but I realized that it was probably the front license plate bracket (not needed in Tennessee so that's why it didn't dawn on me initially). Can probably google front license plate bracket and find something out there.

 

As mentioned above it’s a superset plastic piece that mounts to the bumper.

 

If you want one let me know. Don’t need it here and have no plans to leave. Happy to send you mine if I can find it!

 

It mounts to the top curve of the bumper and is about 1/3 the height of the plate. The plate bolts to it via the top two bolts only.

I don't run a front plate (winch in the way) but I'll be damned if I know where that thing is, otherwise you could have it.

 

There are two little dimples on the front bumper, you need to look for it, then you mount the black bracket to it.

Unfortunately, my 4runner came with it installed and if I remove it, there are two big holes :/

Going to have the silver wrapped on my 2021 TRD Off Road. That will cover the holes. But I’m in Ca. So have to have front plate. On my Camaro, I found a lic. Plate bracket that had L shaped brackets so the plate holder bolted under the bumper. Has anyone seen anything like that for the 4R for sale? Also, could grill mount the plate but don’t want it to interfere with any sensors. Are there sensors behind the grill?

 

The dealership should give this to you free of charge. Every place I’ve been to, at least in California, has a shit ton of them laying around.

Seriously, I thought about doing that but when I proposed the idea to a local sign/vinyl shop, they were concerned about the legality of it.

I would love to have a stick on plate. I don't use drive through car washes with my 4Runner but we had a civic and the front plate was destroyed by car washes.

California only, and it seems to be a moot point because nobody has front license plates around here and CHP wouldn’t pull you over even if you were having a gun battle on the 580.
