Mobil 1 Truck & SUV Full Synthetic Motor Oil 5W-20

    Does anyone else use Mobil 1's Truck & SUV Full Synthetic Motor Oil? Says you can go up to 10,000K. Thoughts? I'm not pulling or hauling any weight. Thanks in advance!

    10k no problem and you can use any brand of synthetic. I use walmarts super tech most of the time. 200k miles on my tacoma

    Have used Mobil 1 synthetic in my 4th gen since I bought it new in 2008. 13 years later (damn, has it been that long?) it still runs like a champ.

    I think most of the named ones are gimmicky. I use their fuel economy one but think it’s bullshit. Mobil is a good oil, though.

    most vehicles today are rated for 10k intervals, so any synthetic is typically fine.

    You can use 0W20 or 5W20 synthetic at 10,000 mile intervals.

    Nice butt plug!

    Why avoid Amazon oil? I've seen it beat Mobil 1 in a few categories.

    I've used the Amazon Basics and now I'm onto the boxed 6 quart Havoline for $20. In a 4Runner, you could run Crisco and it would be just fine.

    Porsche recommends mobil 1, and most of their turbos cook off a little bit of oil over 10,000 miles.

    I had to replace a motor, trans, and rear end in a 91 Ford Ranger. I used Mobil 1 in each of them and changed the oil before the recommended intervals.

    More of a Ford problem.

    Nevertheless, Mobil 1 is not some magic elixir.

    Are you serious, did you buy the cuss word as well?

    Ford: Cuss word. 2000 F150 4D lariat, my spouse loved the way it drove till the day the transmission went out at 6000 miles; we where on a trip with friends from Europe spending their vacation with us. Got stuck for 4 days. To make all matters worse, the dealership replaced the transmission and told me that Ford shipped a refurbished one, because their transmission warranty covers only up to 5000 miles to be replaced with a new one.

    Back at home and 7200 miles transmission toast again; I raised hell at the dealership where I purchased the darn thing. They couldn't do anything else then put another refurbished transmission. Waiting 3 weeks to get the truck back. A week later the torque converter toast, nearly had a bad accident because of that.

    less than a mile down the road a Toyota dealership, made a deal the same moment and purchased a Toyota Sequoia limited, I could care less the money I lost on that SOB, as long it was out of my sight; that's the only vehicle in my life giving me that kind of grief.

    I fell in love with that Toyota Sequoia limited, never had any problem, great drive, wonderful SUV, helped me forget about the SOB. I purchased two more Sequoia's for the family, never had problems with any of them.

    That sucks! Sounds like they were forgetting to install the transmission fluid.

    My story is similar but not nearly as dramatic. I divorced myself from FORD back in the 90's.

    Had an 87' GT Mustang 5.0 that ran and drove like a stripped ass ape. Then when it hit 50k miles, it just started falling apart. Too many issues to list here!

    I sold it to a high school kid and introduced myself to my first Toyota and never looked back. :)

    Toyota's may have less bling than other makes, but that's ok by me.

    I just bought 6 quarts of Mobil 1 5w-20 and a Toyota OEM filter cartridge. Never changed the oil using a cartridge filter and confused by the extra parts. Will have to search on YouTube for that.

    My dad gave me his 2007 Chevy HHR a couple of months ago when he replaced it with a Toyota Rav4. The HHR doesn't burn a drop of oil and runs great with 211,000 miles on it. I told my dad I was changing the oil in the 4Runner and using Mobil 1 and he said that is all he used in his HHR and loves the stuff. I also use it as a firearm lubricant.

    The plastic piece can be inserted into the bottom of the filter (once you remove the metal plate off the filter housing) to drain it prior to removal.
    The two gaskets seal the filter housing and bottom filter plate.

    No joke.

    Mine was a 3.0L manual. They were notorious for having problems. Should have gone with the 4.0L auto.

    The good thing about the whole experience is that it did teach me a lot about working on cars.

    Found a couple of photos of the old truck. I updated the front end with a Ford Explorer front clip, fiberglass hood/fenders/bedsides, extended I-beams, front bumper and skidplate, suspension, ect.....

    Well, for me the good thing about the whole experience is that I was introduced to Toyota.

    I never had problems with GM trucks or SUV’s & sure, many people drive FORD cars & trucks and swear by it.

    A good comparison, I have a buddy who is a wildlife manager on a 260.000-acre ranch for 38 years. They have a fleet of GM & FORD trucks, he states that the GM trucks last about 35% longer with around half of the repair cost on average, driving 95% off-road year around.

    My experience with FORD was beyond bad, loosing a lot of money, frustration & time wasted.
