The access panel under the rear seat is there to disconnect the fuel pump electrical harness and fuel pressure line. You need to drop the tank to remove the fuel pump.

similar to the first gen isuzu troopers...had to drop the tank, to service-or-replace the fuel pump. many owners eventually took up the rear carpet in the back, cut out a small section of the floor, and re sealed..which in the future, made it much easier to access the pump, should it need service-or-replacing

Hey Maracus. Your rear seats don't just tumble forward?
I didn't want to drop the tank either, so I made an access panel in the floor, as mentioned above, to access the pump. I believe 1st generations had this, and I know of other makes that did it too. It just makes sense.
Just carefully cut the panel with a grinder and cutting disc. Push the carpet out of the way and lay down some cardboard duct taped to the floor to keep all the sparks/metal dust contained. Have a squirt bottle of water
handy too while you cut. I riveted some metal tabs to the panel which I then screwed to the floor. Finished it off by using Gorilla Tape to seal it all up.

    Thanks Krupp,
I have been pondering where to cut the floor to get this done.
    Cheers,
