Just got a new 4Runner. It’s great, but it’s got a couple of weird flaws. I’m curious what others have done to fix them.
    1) Apple CarPlay is not wireless. Ok, but that ugly cable going from the dash to the console is weird.
    2) The cup holders are too big without the rubber inserts and too small with them. They squeeze my water bottle and come out with the bottle every time.

I know these are nits to pick, but they sure are annoying. Any fixes or suggestions?

    Thanks!

Welcome to the forum from Wisconsin!

I leave the cup holder inserts out most of the time. So far I haven't had anything tip over in there. I could see those massive fast food cups being a bit sketchy, though.

I don't actually know what Apply Carplay is, so no help there. I just use Bluetooth.

I bought a Carlinkit 2.0 for wireless Apple Car play, works well enough. Takes a minute or two to connect though. Be warned though, wireless car play is a bit of a drain on the battery. You could put a charging pad in the center console or something, but you might as well plug it in if you're taking your phone out of your pocket. Since my commute is short it's not really a concern, but when I'm driving for a couple hours I'm plugging it in so my phone charges.

I lost my main center console cup holder. It was annoying that it stuck to my coffee cup but it was a good fit.

My Sequoia has a smaller diameter inset in the cup holders so it will support large or small drinks. That alleviates the need for the rubber insert.

The etsy inserts look like a good option. A OEM replacement insert is $30+ which I have a hard time justifying for a piece of rubber.

Sweet! Ordered some new cup holders from Etsy, the wireless dongle for CarPlay, and a wireless charger and organizer for the console. Thanks everyone!
