Does anyone have anymore information on the 3rd Gen SR5 Limited trim level? I have seen only one on Craigslist years ago. It too was an Anthracite Metalic with the PX Metallic paint package. But was very weathered. So is there any other differences?

Depends on the year. Limited usually just means an upgraded interior like leather seats and some outside appearance upgrades. There is woodgrain, cupholders up front and a bunch of little stuff that the Limiteds got. There were Limited only colors too.

The brochure for 2002 shows the differences for that year. You will need to look at each year as things change, usually 96/98, 99/00, 01/02 are the groupings where options remained pretty consistant.

Ya it’s before all the “TRD” hype. So instead, they did a special color, model option called the “SR5 Limited” Then they started stamping everything TrD in later model years.

TRD was an odd thing back then. The dealer would just put on a few suspension components like springs/shocks and put the TRD sticker on the side. If the Dealer put a supercharger in, they would put the TRD sticker on the side. LOTS of Tacos with the TRD sticker back then...and all they got were slightly better springs/shocks. I saw some 4Runners.

Sometimes someone would put it on themselves, especially if they got the super charger.

But the TRD sticker had no relation to the Limited designation.
