I’m running 285/70/R17 on my 2017 TRD ORP with stock UCA’s and I haven’t noticed any rubbing or need to trim/cut. Of course YMMV

285 is standerd with 3” some run 275 and you wont have to do any cutting. With 285 you will need to do the fenderliner mod which eliminates cutting fender amd depending on tire you may need to a body mount chop unsure if needed with 275. I personally run a 285 and only had to do fender liner adjusting

Why does everyone say “need”? I’ve run the same set up on two 4Runners now without having to cut anything.

Should say “I had to do this...”

Probably out of habit, i know every 4Runner is diffrent, people say “you need a bmc” when i did not but i had to cut a ton of my fender each is different, but i still say need just out of habit. It probably runs in the same realm of people saying you need to watch this or you need to try this.

I had to cut my mount. I'm runner wheel spacer on oem wheels. it widen the stance but the edge of the 285 tire rubbed on it. I imagine, maybe dont know, if you dont run spacers the tire sits in ok in the wheel well.

I only have the level lift both front and rear sits 21.5 from center cap. Thinking of putting 275/70/R17 KO2. Mine is a 2016 SR5. I hope there will be no rubbing issue. But I’m also installing 1 inch cornfed spacer at rear coil and adjust my front upto 2 inch lift. When I save up some $$$

with level 275 should fit just fine. have the shop sit it on the ground and articulate the wheel, check for clearance before you commit I'm pretty sure they'll be ok with the level kit.

Thanks. I do hope so without rubbing. I’m planning of thinking my KM T/A 255/75R17 but the rear passenger side got nailed in the side and couldn’t be repaired

I know and I just had those tires last year. I have about 1 year with them with 8k miles. Would it look weird to replace 2? Then leave the old 2 at rear and put a new ones in the front? Or just thinking of getting 4 Terra Grappler 265 or 275/70R17

personally I think I would look funny but we're not made of money so do what you have too. maybe get the set of 5 and sell the 2 or 3 good tires.

Nitto RG here 285/70/17 with 3 inch'ish lift. No fender liner mods needed, no BMC needed, just the standard PRO front bumper cutting at the port.
Pretty widely accepted that 285/70/17 with a 3 inch lift with minimal cutting doesn't rub.

That’s why I’m thinking of getting Nitto Terra Grapplers 265/70R17 or BFG KO2 275/70R17

Going to be lifting the wife’s runner soon as parts are coming in, for those who are running larger tires is there a fix for the speedo like that tacoma?

You may not need anything, i am running 285/70/17 MTs and drive by some of those speed check units pretty often, and i am dead on to what they are showing.

Interesting, the wife is set on using the old wheels that came with the tacoma, Its more the look for her then functionality. I sold the big tires that I had which were 295/55/20’s and moved to a 16” tire, so I was going just put 275/55/20 on which matches in height of the original tire size. I was just curious by the title as I have not found something to correct it for the T4r.
