Mounting my traction mats on the roof basket this weekend & replacing my white "Hella" light covers with black "KC" covers (expect it will look better). Started planning a trip to Fairbanks via the AL-Can if Canada relaxes border crossings. Packed my "emergency stuff" in the back.

Installing cross bars on my wife's RAV4.

Installed the oem crossbars today, does anyone know the proper place to reduce the wind noise? I haven't driven it yet to hear it but it has an arrow that tells you where to locate the cross bar. However there is no marking on the cross bar just the long bars as to the position. So I placed it in the middle of the torx screws but thought maybe they meant the the front of the crossbar? Any ideas?

I keep adding these to my cart at a local dealer, but am unsure of whether theyd work with a Yakima box with the clamp-style-claw-style things that attach to the crossbar. I think your pictures sealed it for and the answer appears to be no. Those OEM bars sit really close to the roof I cant imagine what would actually work on them. and it makes me wonder what would

makes sense, I got them for the soft top cargo cover and if I had something long that I needed to strap to the top.

I know this is from an old post, but i”m new to the 4Runner form. I like them, looks like you can use them as a step and provide protection to the side in parking lots and other peoples car doors!

Mine are centered on the arrow. Just did a cross country trip with soft bag on roof rails. I attempted to move them at the beginning. I immediately moved them back fut to wind noise.

They do make great steps and they do protect against door dings. Helps when washing the roof as well.

I moved mine front as far forward as it can go and the back one as far back as it can go to give most stable load support. As for wind noise, I didn't notice any wind noise increase and for gas mileage and wind resistance c-mon this can't make it much worse for such aerodynamic SUV.

Weekend away at a lacrosse tournament, didn't do anything to the 4R but the kid that has helped me do everything to the 4R wanted his picture taken in front of it with his hardware for winning their division. I guess I made it a backdrop

Pinstripes, lots of em. Plus a couple dents.
Check out LFD Crossbars. I like mine. You can start with a couple crossbars and then eventually turn it into a full roof rack.

    https://www.lfdoffroad.com/catalog/toyota/5th-gen/crossbars-5th

Tip - don't buy the bolt on wind fairing, it will flap in the wind (jack hammer the roof) around 80mph. The integrated wind fairing is better it doesn't flap in the wind.

Thanks! These look like they sit close to the roof do I'm wondering if I can put a cargo box on them without the clamp thingy that wraps around the bar hitting the roof when loosened to install or remove.

not missed it one bit. lol I do miss the crowd here so figured I'd swing by.
Enjoying the GX460 more and more every day. It is more luxurious, cruises way nicer and quieter, audio is light years ahead (even for stock system), I still get better gas mileage lol Tows like a beast! The big ole v8 has so much bottom end torque that it does not care one bit when trailer is attached. Never feels sluggish. On highway I am sitting at 1700rpm doing 65mph and getting north of 14mpg (4runner did 9-10 mpg). When not towing I am averaging 18-19mpg combined, 22-24 highway.

Plasti Dipped the garnish on my grill. I tried vinyl first but it didn't turn out well (I did manage to successfully do the chrome bars on the grill in vinyl). the dip was easy and looks pretty good. we will see how it lasts. it was my first attempt at both.

Gave each driveshaft zerk a few pumps of that delicious cherry flavored Mobil 1 synthetic grease.

*disclaimer: Mobil 1 synthetic grease may or may not actually be cherry flavored, but it is a nice shade of red :p

*disclaimer 2: I do not recommend tasting Mobil 1 synthetic grease
