What is this black capsule near the driver's side fuse box?

    I could use your help identifying this item pictured below in this 2002 4Runner. It is near the driver's side area fuse box to the left of the brake pedal. Please let me know if you can identify it. Thank you.

    None. Bone Stock. EXCEPT: Brushguard, tow hitch, both welded to the frame. It's good to have friends and a fully equipped garage!
    Sure looks like an after market, in-line fuse holder to me. I don't have one in my 99, I'm almost certain. I've been down there adjusting the clutch pedal, and I saw nothing even close to that.

    If you figger it out, let us know. I'm curious, now :)

    does it have a wire at both ends ? it certainly looks like the old style inline fuse holder

    Yes, it has a wire at both ends.

    Ok then it is a fuse holder follow the wires and see where they go do not put a fuse in it until you know what is at both ends
