Wondering what the Limited 4runner crowd, with our stock 20”rims, like for tires. I have a 2015 and it will be needing tires after winter.. probably would be 95%pavement driven..

In the same boat, but planning to replace my wheels/tires with 17" TRD pro wheels. Looking for recommendations on tires without any mods/lifts/bmc/rubbing which can go with theese 17" wheels.

my wife just got the limited... I was thinking of changing it to Nitto later on... you can always go to tire rack and do a comparison... and tirebuyer.com.... good luck!

was thinking of doing that too, I like the way that looks on the few i have seen..also like the limited wheels.. if I’m not mistaken, I think the 265 tires on the 17” rims fit without any other mods..

I am fairly certain 265 will work fine. I want someone to confirm if 275 will do or not. I am planning to make a trip to discounttire and see what they suggest some time later this week.

I just put Michelin Defenders on my 2016 SR5 with 17 inch wheels. They are highly rated on TireRack and all the internet comparisons that I could find. I think they sell them in the size your Limited takes. I didn't want a stiff or noisy off-road tire. I really like the Defenders...they feel great on dry and wet roads as well as on icy roads and snow. HUGE improvement over the original tires. They recently took me through some snow drifts that were 12 inches deep in places. I'm sure there are other good choices.

For mostly pavement, I would look a Michelin Defenders, as @Gumpus mentioned.

I had good luck with a set of Yokohama Geolander HT's on my previous 4runner as well.

I’m on my second set of General HTS60’s, on my stock 17” rims....great wet and dry traction. Just had 24” of snow in New York, and very happy with them. Would reccomend. Check utq ratings on tires your considering, will give you an idea of tread life and traction and temperature ratings. It’s molded into sidewall of the tire.

The Limited has a very small selection of tires due to an oddball size. 255/60/20 or something like that.

EDIT: Looks like the General HTS is one of those options. :)

Rookie question, 245's are recommended for the 20" rims that come with the Limited. Do Toyo AT 265's fit on the 20" rims? thanks in advance

I didn't even consider the rim size when purchased. I'm happy with the Nightshade and probably won't do many mods, but larger tires are high on the list. A 2" lift is as well, but hope the lift won't conflict with the XREAS suspension.

So far so good with my new BFG KO2 165/60/20 on 2020 Nightshade. Drove like a new suv, sort of a mix between stock Limited and my old SR5.
Found the recommendation on this forum- Many Thx for that!

I have changed my 20" wheels to 17" wheels. Now I have 285/70R17 with 2.5in lift. Sharing this if anyone like to go this route.

If all you want is function, I would also encourage you to look at the Michelin LTX/Defender. Never seen anyone who owned these write a negative thing about them.

I am thinking of dropping the 20in rims on my 2018 limited for 265/70-17 rims and tires due to more availability of that size. But I've read on different post/forums that that tire and wheel size rubs and or doesn't rub. It's a confusing mess to figure out

As so many others have said, the Defenders are excellent. A really remarkable combination of long tread life with great road manners and high levels of dry, wet and snow grip. They even get good reviews in the dirt, which is pretty amazing. A family member is on their second set on an Audi SUV with a ton of miles, and I've loved them while driving that car. I plan to get them myself when my OEM tires wear out (or they scare the sh*t outta me again).

That said, if I wanted something more AT and/or snow oriented, and was gonna have only one wheelset, I'd also consider the Toyo AT3.

Ideally, we'd all have two (or even three) wheelsets. I loved having two sets for my RWD BMW. But if you're gonna have just one, given the intention of primarily road use, putting Defenders on your stock 20 " rims is a super easy recommendation. I'll prob end up doing that then getting a 17" wheelset with something more aggressive to swap in during the winter, so primarily for snow, but that I could also use for light off road duty as the need arises.
