Just received a new outer tie rod (OEM) that I ordered to replace one of mine that developed a tear in the rubber boot with all the grease leaking out. Upon receiving the new one, I pressed on the boot and it indented, released air, and it looks like grease on top of threaded shaft. Is this suppose to be an air tight seal or does it seal when you install it? I'm a newbie on this so take it easy on me. My first tie rod replacement.

Not sure. I'm assuming road debris. Noticed the tie rod covered in grease and dirt and on inspection noticed about a BB sized hole in the boot.
Can't be much grease left in it.
