not too long ago i ask what car did ur 4runner replace. lets look to the future. what car do you think will replace ur current 4R. ive own a good amount of cars. the crazy thing is ive never had the same car twice. came close on 2 occasions. had 03 A4 and 12 s4.. also 08 335 and 16 M3. ive been all over the place. the craziest was replacing my 335 with honda crz. at this very moment i think the following would be in the running for my next car.

    6th gen 4R
    WRX/STI
    Civic Type R
4th Gen Taco (might be 1 contender because ive never own a truck before)
S3 or RS3 if they bring the hatch to the US.

I don't have plans to replace the 4Runner, but..

Once mine is paid off, I would like to add something sporty to my fleet. Maybe a Nissan Z, or something a bit more practical like a Lexus IS.

If I'm eventually forced to replace the 4Runner, it will probably be with a 4Runner. But, if I ever make the 4Runner into a dedicated off-road/camping setup, I'll probably get a Highlander or Lexus RX for road trip duty.

When it finally comes to that point. I'm going to replace it with another 4Runner, most likely.

I’ll have mine for at least 5 years. Too happy with it to even try to guess what will be on the market then.

Blacked out badges, window deflectors, smoked 3rd brake light. I have a Borla muffler on order as well as some color matched engine cover stickers. I'll be painting the stock wheels soon as well. Falken tires in the fall as well.
A coffin then after cremation, an urn. Yeah, Dark I know but this thing will most likely out live me.

Yes, after 3 previous 4runners, I think we know what car #5 will be for me. Hahaha.

    Feel free to ask
I won’t replace it, but I will be looking at add one of the following in a few years once out and I’ve had a chance to weigh all the options:

    New LC variant
    4th Gen Taco
    6th Gen 4R

I was thinking about Jeep Wrangler Rubicons many times and even test driven. Reliability is my biggest issues along with few other minor things. Absolutely love them for their superior off-road capability over 4Runners.

^^^^The Rubicon pictured above is well north of $60K. No way would I pay that much for a Fiat product. Rubicons are superior off road, but garbage on road and no way to make them better. I would replace my 4R with a hybrid 4R. I had a TJ, 4 JK's. All of them had problems.

When we replace the current 4Runner, I think things are going to be more electric orientated, so.... I'm looking at a modified lithium ion powered scooter, brushless motor, big volts, a Tesla "eater"!

I'm 71 next weekend with diabetes, high BP, and heart failure. My wife is 65. Our 5th Gen has less than 17K miles on it. I don't expect we will ever need a new car.

Mine is a '69 FJ40 being totally worked over to correct prior owner's "F ups"=status report is that everything is working great=hubs rebuilt, wiring, ignition moved, engine gone over. Then new tires, a console, and radio. I did (or will do when I get it back) new weatherstripping, latches, mirrors, gas can carrier, etc. Doubt I will outlive it!

Welcome, BearBio! I really think you should post pictures of your Runner, and especially your 40...there's at least a few of us here with FJ-40's in the garage.

Beat me to it. Death is the only thing that will replace the 5th gen in my life. Even if it gets wrecked or stolen, it WILL be replaced by a 5th gen.

Unless.........someone wants to give me a flawless 1988 Land Cruiser!

As soon as I figure out HOW!

The FJ is a retromod with a 350 Chevy, and a few bolt-ons. When I get it back and new tires and (stock) wheels and hubcaps, I'll try. The 4Runner is a dark blue (Nautical Blue?) with aftermarket side-rails and roof basket. Getting a bull bar as soon as the FJ is driveable!

Leaked Toyota Land Cruiser LC300 Dropping on June 9
by Amanda Cline on June 4, 2021

There’s a new Toyota in town! The Land Cruiser LC300 is about to make its global debut on June 9. While the brand announced the Land Cruiser was taking a break after this year, it seems it is already coming back to the market with all-new-everything.

Saying goodbye to the old Toyota Land Cruiser
    [IMG]

In spite of protest from fans, Road & Track reported that the 200-series Land Cruiser would no longer be produced in the U.S. Clearly, this ruffled some feathers, but there is hope on the horizon once again.

Motor1, the Toyota Middle East YouTube account uploaded a six-second teaser video, as seen above. The SUV is expected to be underpinned by the new Toyota New Global Architecture (TNGA) platform. The SUV is expected to lose the V8 engine and gain a turbocharged 3.5L V6 option, plus a 3.3L V6 diesel. The gasoline V6 is expected to get 409 hp and 480 lb-ft of torque. The diesel will get 302 hp and 516 lb-ft of torque.

There are rumored to be a few trim levels. The GR Sport trim is supposedly 195.4 inches long, while another option is 196.2 inches long. The new Land Cruisers will be 76.5 inches tall and will have a wheelbase measuring 112.2 inches long.

Motor1 confirmed there would be an aluminum roof, and the ground clearance will match the dead LC200. While the spy shots show a similar silhouette to the Land Cruiser we love, it certainly has a refreshed look. The LC300 is expected to be capable of all sorts of off-road adventures, while the GR Sport will be even beefier for adventures.

The competition is stiff for the large SUV category

Not a fan of Land cruiser 200 USA market getting. Tiny gas tank with a poor mpg engine. Useless for traveling.

Vs Asia getting a turbo diesel with a proper fuel tank. I bet it's the same configuration for rest of the world. Too bad USA market has a pathetic configuration.

Likely a pickup. Would like a Tundra, but may need a 3/4-ton depending on what toys I get.

We will most likely keep our 2019 until it falls apart (I probably will first...) and pass it to one of my boys. I'd probably get another 4Runner though I've been eyeing the Sequoia, and would love to get my mits on an FJ Cruiser.

The Bronco is intriguing to me in 2-3 years, but my 4R will be paid for by then so I don't know if I can put myself through another vehicle loan for awhile.
