    Hey folks,

I'm in the market for an aftermarket 2nd row bench seat (or single bucket seats that can be modified to fit) that has the metal latch clips for car seats. I have a 96 4Runner and unfortunately the OEM bench does not come with those.

Any suggestions on where to get a quality bench? I've been looking high and low and my local offroad shop told me "Good luck!" so I'm outsourcing my question now.

I know I can go to scrap yards, which I plan to do, but I also need to know which 2nd row seats will fit in a 96. If it requires a bit of modification thats ok. I've heard newer gen 4Runner seats might fit, as well as some BMW models. Any confirmation of that would also be wonderful!

Thanks in advance for any help provided.

Hello. You can try ‘Japanese Truck Dismantlers’ in Wilmington, CA. They’ve been there for over 60 years and those guys sure know their stuff. If they don’t have what you need I’m sure they can give you advice or point you in the right direction. So far they have had everything I’ve needed.

You mean the uas anchors you use instead of a belt right? My research is about a year old but I think it was 2002/03 when they were mandated by gov so I dont think any 3rd gens have them and you are kinda stuck using the seatbelt only....depending on your type of seat.

If you are referring to the over the seat tether latch all 01’s and up have those and I believe in 98 they started adding pre drilled and threaded holes in the bed and you can buy an anchor from toyota and it just crank it in there.

If your set on using the uas anchors, I think its honestly just easier and cheaper to use a different car seat that is compatible with the shoulder belt.

2 steel caribiners and some chain would work fine fasten to the seat mounts .... I added a 3rd seatbelt on my Honda Element with a clip on airplane seatbelt to the chain and showed it to my neighbor a firefighter he said it was ready for take off lol
