I have a 2006 4runner, I was troubleshooting the hard start when warm issue and bamm! Engine will not crank. All dash lights come on, all accessories operate. swapped relays around and tested all fuses. Still nothing! Was starting just fine all morning long. I did unplug the MAF sensor to test for voltage before this occurred! Any suggestions appreciated!

Correction it is a 2006 not 2007. Battery is good. I can spin engine over with a probe at the STA relay. But engine will not start. Relay tested good. Only getting 5 volts at signal contact when key is turned to start position.

Call a good mechanic or call Toyota. It does sound like a weak battery.

    bad starter.

get a new one from Amazon for $110

Don't rebuild them. I had one rebuilt at a professional shop and it failed in one year. OEM lasted 4 years then failed. They all failed for me the same way... "nothing" when I turn the key. Not even a click.

I have 2005 and have bought 4 new starters. I tested them and they were all bad. Lasted 4 years - each of them

    Amazon.com: DB Electrical SND0491 Starter Compatible With/Replacement For Toyota Tacoma & Tundra 4.0L 2005 2006 2007 2008 2009 & 4Runner 2003 2004 2005 2006 2007 2008 2009 FJ Cruiser 2007 2008 2009: Automotive

The one in the 4runner now came with a lifetime warranty. Bought it at Amazon for $120 It's been working for 4-1/2 years now.

Amazon doesn't offer a lifetime warranty now, so maybe shop around.

Simple things out of the way... MAF unplugged? Flipped the wrong direction? Knocked another connection out of whack while troubleshooting? Starter actually engaging when you apply the probe to the STA relay? Spark plug(s) misaligned?
