    Hi all,
I'm about to buy a new 2021 4Runner Off Road w/ KDSS tomorrow, and being new to the 4x4 world and 4runners in particular I wonder if someone here can help me with some questions.

    • It will come with the default factory tires. I want to replace them to all terrain all weather tires (KO2?). Any recommendation? (got an offer from the dealership for BF Goodrich LT265/70R17 Tire, All-Terrain T/A KO2 - 10892 for 327 each, not sure if they are good and worth the money)
    • Is there a place in Vancouver that will buy the old ones?
    • Do I need to replace the extra tire?
    • I've got also an offer from the dealer to install the TRD PRO skid plate for around 600$. Should I do it or get another one?
    • Should I replace the shocks or wear my current ones first? If replace, which one would you recommend and is there an aftermarket for the old ones? I know that I can't really lift it with the KDSS
    • Do I need any paint protection to avoid off road damage/scratches?
    • Audio wise it doesn't come with the JBL feature, and the existing one is kinda meh. Does it worth adding the JBL (assuming I can), or is there a good recommended system for the 4r?
    • What else would you recommend install as soon as possible?

Sorry for the million newbie questions, I'm going to buy it tomorrow and want to be done with everything from the dealership in one go (I live about an hour drive from it).

Hey Ben, congrats on your new 4R ! I'm still fence sitting and can't give much info but seeing as you're a local brother ...

My BFG experience is pretty dated but from what I've read a lot of folks are running, and like the KO2. As for price I use for general pricing. If dealer quote is mounted and balanced it's not bad in comparison.

For selling the oem tires you can do the craigslist thing or, myself, I've done a take off trade in with the tire shop that I buy the new tires from. But do that asap while the oems are new. Gotta call around a bit for best deal. Helps if you know what tire you want tho.

Don't need to change the spare,at this time as the size is the same. Unless you're planning to go bush right away then you might want a "better" spare.

As for shocks, I'd guess you don't have time to tee anything up with the dealer so I'd run what you have while you do your research, talk to an off road shops, etc.

As to what else to install right away, I'd say use it first, get some time in and decide later. If you're going off high way get some recovery gear first. Lot's of threads/lists out there to research.

    HTH. Enjoy !

ON EDIT. I've read the TDR Pro Skid Plate doesn't fit with KDSS, or that it "fits" if modified (cut outs for the KDSS sway bar). So might want to check that with dealer. As for price, I think the part num is PTR6089190 if you want to compare.
