okay- so it's a sad day here at West Point NY. No, not because graduation happened. Cadets come and go, but sadly, now, my 2001 4runner must go. Looking for a new home- someone who wants to put a new (used ) engine into her, and give her some love. If interested, and you are in the area, please reach out to me. She is at a shop in Modena Ny, which is just north of here. I would love to get 2000 bucks. Relatively new Michelin tires (within the last 3.5 years, but only 10k or so miles on them). New rebuilt starter, as of 3 months ago. Newer exhaust system. She has driven across country 4 times. Been in WA state, GA, LA, NH and NY. 170000 miles on her now. Thanks for looking. So sorry to hear this.

Oddly enough, it was while I was stationed at West Point and lived in the MEDAC barracks in the late 90s that I first noticed and fell in love with the 3rd gens. FYI, I used to run the Vet Clinic and took care of the mules. How many mules do they have there these days?

Engine failed at 170000 miles? That’s barely broken in. Are you still on your first oil change or what ?

I left in 2000 when they were just starting to look at renovations and moving the clinic to the the first floor. Back then, the first floor was offices for the NCOs and the vet.

A lot of good memories. I need to get back up there for a visit.

Is Schades still a good pizza joint in highland falls?

nope. unless you don't pay attention to details, oil changes, etc...I have 259k on mine....and it runs strong. my friend has a '94..and he has close to 600k on his rig...mileage doesn't mean squat....taking care of your 4runner is the key.

I hear you I can say the key might be to find a good body and puting a motor in it.... for $3k you could have a 50k miles motor in it so buying one for $2k takes you to $5k total and with a fresh engine.
