    From easy to difficult.

If you don't go much off-road put it as a note in your phone.

    (1) 2H

    (2) 4H
    (3) 4L (Neutral, hard right - fast up)
    (4) 4L + Locked diff
    (5) 4L + Atrac
    (6) 4L + Atrac + locked diff (ATrac shuts of at 4MPH)
    (7) 4L + ATrac+ Crawl control (Loud Clinks + Bangs + clunks normal)
    (8) 4L + Multi-Terrain Select = ATrac sensitivity Changes Throttle Response)
    a) Mud, Sand, Dirt (Works in 4H)
    b) Loose Rock
    c) Mogul
    d) Rock

My KISS thinking about these systems:
    1) 2H - on-pavement + gravel roads
    2) Whenever I go off road I turn on MTS according to the terrain and follow on-screen instructions (so Mud, Sand, Dirt I switch to 4H and so on).
    3) I use rear locker when I need lock, well, rear axle.
    4) I use Atrac as front locker only (usually together with already turned on rear locker).
    5) I use crawl control for steep ascends and descends only.

I have never tried to engage both, but can A-Trac and Crawl Control be active at the same time?

Its to bad the geniuses at Toyota made it so we can't engage 4H + rear locker, or even 2H for that matter.. I totally understand why... Ive seen just about every demographic in the world behind the wheel of a 4Runner...

Locking a diff is serious business that could have disastrous/expensive consequences... I feel like they've made it very dummy proof lol

In all seriousness, when I vacation on the shores of OBX I do a 10+mile drive on the beach, It would be helpful to be able to lock the rear diff... Although Ive never had a problem PROPERLY AIRED DOWN and in 4H+Mud,Sand,Dirt (MTS)

We need a Grey Wire Mod like the Tacos that doesn't put the dash into full Christmas light mode.

I'm actually not 100% sure on this but I will try it. Do you not have rear lockers? Whether your rock crawling or stuck in a sticky spot on a trail typically, I run 4lo and sd2 or 3 and engage my rear lockers so it's a little easier to get out of those sticky spots. It helps alot especially with those near 90° angle turn going hard passenger and you start to slide or get hung up on some rocks....engaging rear lockers saves me everytime!
Better than flying into a tree HAHA :itllbuffout:

4L sd1 and Atrk works well for me

Yes, A-Trac and Crawl in 4L - Makes some noise, which is normal. Works good, depending on the situation your in.

A member on the other 4R forum devised a good cheat sheet for 4WD modes. Print out this pdf double-sided, tri-fold it and keep it in your glove box for reference. The pdf is clearer than this photo:

I use my rear locker all the time. Mainly because it doesn't turn off all that easily and who wants to delay a group of 5 or more vehicles with backing up. Watching some Ronnie Dahl videos he also turns his lockers on, and leaves them on, for the most part.

I rarely use Atrac. Once in awhile, I'll turn it on for something that looks sketchy. Figure I'm riding the brakes enough as it is with all the hills around here.

4 minute video from Saturday. The XJ in front of me had lockrites but avoids an off camber mud hole. I had to go through it.
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tRZKbHVpu-E

Longer video. If you jump to 12 minutes, the monster lifted 1st Gen 4Runner, in front of me takes a hard line instead of the cut around. I followed him right through it. Chatting with him at the end of the trail ride, he's like "I was shocked to look back and see you taking all the same hard lines. It's a Toyota, it can handle it."

Thanks. Here's another one taken by the same group I was riding with a couple weeks. Has some pretty good action shots.

I was really pushing it and took every hard line that day. Not in the video but I followed the white Jeep through the same mud hole and made it on the 1st attempt.

I actually put a little dent in my passenger front quarter panel. Stopped by the body shop that did my BMC afterwards. He popped the dent out for free and wouldn't take any $. He said, "I'm sure you'll be back in the future with something more significant..."

I'm going with ADS suspension, total chaos UCAs, rear links & dobinson springs.
I kinda had some powder coating done as well to make her a little extra special. I dropped her off Tuesday this week & haven't seen her so, tomorrow is going to be exciting. Can't wait to round the corner of the bay she's in  Im not going to lie....I might cry!

Experienced difficulty shifting out of 4l after freezing overnight temps. Appeared to be a gear sync issue.
