So a lot of us have built our rigs to our liking and have added some weight around the hips. But how many of you have weighed your rig after adding everything? I just finished installing my rear bumper with dual swings and with all my add ons I decided to see how it stood from when I bought it in September of last year. With a full tank of gas, and my gear I went to the cat scales and quickly realized this pig is going to have to go on a diet. my total weight not including driver, or passenger (my wife always goes when we go out adventuring) extra fuel, water, food
I came out to 5900lbs with a full tank of gas.

I’ll most likely be starting at skids and looking at going a full aluminum skid set over the steel I have. I don’t think changing front bumpers is in my future simply because I don’t trust the strength of aluminum on a heavy winch pull (feel free to tell me I’m an idiot and it will be just fine). I may end up pulling my dobinsons drawers and building something a little lighter out of 80/20 as well. But I’m curious what else (if you have weighed) does everyone else’s rig weighs?

Also to add I regularly still see around 15 - 15.5 mpg city and 16-17 hwy. I got 19 a few weeks back down hill does that count?

My only complaint is winter gas... horrible... i went from 17'ish to 14 and last month back to 17'ish.

No wonder these pigs get shitty mpg. 4th gens weighed 4,000 to 4,550 per Toyota.

Yes good points in weight. I am sure folks forget to take that into account when towing as well.

5th Gens are 4675-4805lbs according to Toyota, so 5900 is starting to get close to payload.

I'm probably still right at stock weight on mine(4750). I removed the roof basket, but added about 3lbs per tire(x5) when I switched to A/Ts, and maybe 8-10lbs. for the Molle panel. I plan on keeping it as light as possible. And after doing some crawling this last weekend with and without people inside, there's a very noticeable difference with weight.

Latest scale with half tank fuel(+- a gallon or 2) includes winch & bumper, swing out w/spare/camp table & sliders.
    Front - 2,600
    Rear - 2,360
    Total - 4,960 Curb weight

Guesstimate: Curb weight full kit & full fuel tank should come in between 5,200/5,300 pounds.

Bumpers, front and rear, dual swingouts, full skids, molle panels, shelf, console molle panels and shelf, rock sliders, full gas, and my fat ass - 5700. With the teardrop wife and dogs, probably GVWR

I'm putting on Kings with stiffer springs. 600 lb front and 400/600 rear

BTW, besides CAT scales at truck stops, metal recycling yards have accurate scales.

Isn’t your bumper aluminum ? I feel like I saw you had an aluminum front. If so have you winched with it? Did you notice any unwanted results ?

We have basically the same load out it sounds like other than the shelves where I have full drawers and a fridge. I am working with a buddy of mine to pull my drawers and built a new system out of 80/20 which I think will cut my weight down by at least 50-75lbs over the heavy dobinsons drawers

also to add I ran the king 700’s and loved them over 600. 600 with my half bumper, winch , dual battery, and compressor couldn’t still sagged.

Partially aluminum. The winch base is steel, and it hasn't been used yet.

4850 stock LE trim, now armored up she's a bloated 5980, w full tank, tools/recovery gear, fridge with a couple gallons of drinking water, and me @ 240lbs. Used to get 15 to 17 mpg, mud tires killed that. At 13 now and stays there. At this weight the Kings are worth every penny though.

Weight won't affect fuel economy significantly on the highway. Drag is the biggest factor. With my bone stock 2021 TRD ORP I get 19-19.5 MPG mixed and 21-22 MPG highway at 65 MPH or less. I don't live in a large metropolitan area so there is never a large percentage of stop and go driving.

Interesting comments on the King 700lbs. Ive got 500s which is base, but have a fair bit of weight. To those using the 700s how were they to live with longterm? was it a huge improvement over the 600? I dont think they have a 650.
