Has anyone tried tacotunes harness? link below.

Crutchfield has nothing for our 2021 ORP or any other harness options from the head unit. I am looking to start changing out the factory speakers, adding an amp and subwoofers' EDIT - So after the overwhelming response here and a lot of research, now looking at the OEM system.

Like to build my own system, but with the Toyota head unit being so prosperity might have to go with a plug and play.

I just installed the Tacotunes harness this past weekend. I connected it to a JBL 300w/4 channel amp. Very easy.

Glad to hear, if I could ask how you routed the wiring from the head unit to the amp.

Thinking under passenger/driver seat for the amp. Was there enough wire to go around and under the door trims or did you have to go through the console?
    thanks

Tacotunes harness works just fine; or with a little work, you can always make your own using the metra male and female harness connectors and some 8 conductor speedwire (usually comes as 9 conductor, with the 9th wire being for remote).

I would also strongly suggest a new radio... or at the very least, a DSP to go in between the radio and amp to help correct/offset for the factory signal processing.

Thanks kbp810 - if there was a simple new radio fit with instructions I could follow we would consider a new one. Crutchfield has nothing that they would recommend, while I can follow diagrams/instructions (have done installs on a number of my and kids cars) electronics I always struggle with.

I hear ya on the DSP and am trying to figure that out as well. Thinking possibly an amp with one inside to keep it simple:
    https://www.crutchfield.com/p_13698640/JL-Audio-VX700-5i.html?tp=35808

The last amp I had in my Camaro was JL XD700/5v2 and I managed to get it installed/tuned sounded great. I am cheap and bought it refurbished from JL saving a couple hundred bucks, ran great for years until I sold the car. Thinking I would like this amp but have no idea what DSP to marry it to.
    https://www.crutchfield.com/p_13698606/JL-Audio-XD700-5v2.html?tp=35808

So if I got the refurbished XD700 amp the cost difference in the two is $600 or $400 for the new one, which would be what I would be left for a DSP and connection wiring......or a new head unit.

Thanks for everyone's help dialing this in.

I installed my amp under driver seat. Routed wiring behind gas pedal then under door trim. Tacotune harness has plenty of wiring. I think ended up cutting around 3' off mine.

Ok so I have ran the power, grounds to the AMP/DSP location and wiring to the subwoofers.

Waiting on my harness from Taco Tunes and DSP to hook it all up. I have never had a DSP and no idea how to work the settings but will give it a go.

Audio Control DM-608 - plan to install under passenger seat
Kenwood Excelon AMP - plan to install under drivers seat
    Infinity reference speakers
    (2) - JL Audio 10" subwoofers

ordered (2) - 1/4"x12"x12" ABS plastic sheets to mount the AMP and DSP on under the seats.

Just got confirmation TT has shipped the harness, so hopefully next weekend I can get everything installed.

Put some rubber feet on the plastic so the air can move under to the back. Got the wiring from the battery and ground run and ready to go.

Cant wait to see how it sounds. 20210417_120906.jpg 20210417_100946.jpg

Ok so I got everything powered up and finally after a few hours learning the DSP the system sounds great, better than I thought it would.

Audio Control needs to fix some errors in the instructions regarding downloading their program to operate the DSP. Printed instructions say - DO NOT - connect the laptop to the DSP until the program is downloaded into your computer.....their web site says - Make sure too CONNECT - the DSP during download ...... good grief, spent some time searching for the drivers needed to get up and running.

All in all very happy how it turned out.
